Just got a Lo Fi Loop Junky!

Post by dorfmeister »

I know Monsignor Vex is in the dog house around here and rightfully so but I bought an early 03/02 Myrold Loop Junky on the Gearpage last week for $220. Finally found one that was in a price range that was not quite as outrageous as new. This is my first Zvex pedal. I couldn't imagine buying one new at the prices they go for. I don't care much for the paint jobs. I think he could do away with those and vexterize these and sell them for a couple hundred bucks. That would be good.

Just from playing around with this for awhile I really think it is pretty cool. Should be pretty interesting for atmospheric/noise backdrops and creating samples. Seems a bit tough to create a tightly timed loop and triggered loop.

So who is using one of these and what are your favorite ways to incorporating this into your playing? :wow what a fantastic idea you have there: :excellent: :ewok: :wow what a fantastic idea you have there: :excellent:

jealous...that's the only zvex pedal I've ever really wanted. I could just never justify the cost. But that sounds like a good deal! congrats!

I'm enjoying laying down slightly frippish/math rockish extended loops to play over.

Damn this is a cool pedal.

I am wondering why there aren't more simple loopers of this type being made out there.

I know loopers haven't been the type of effect Devi has made in the past but wouldn't it be cool to see Devi create a unique take on a looper? :omg: :ewok: :omg:

What features would be most important to you? :bob:

I always thought it'd be cool to have a looper with a headphone out that could go to the drummer to make it easier for him/her to stay in time. I had a band a year or so ago that relied heavily on loops and in order to ensure that the drummer stayed in time with them, we put our amps right behind him...poor guy! I don't look for much in a looper...I've got an akai headrush which I love (26 seconds of loop time IIRC) and that's all I need. The vibrato effect on the lo-fi loop junky's really cool though...that'd be fun to mess with.

Purple sparkly is cool.

I'd like to see a purple supergroup with Prince and Mascis trading licks.

Donny Osmond can stay home.

Well it is still the honeymoon phase but i would like to say that at this moment I believe this is the single coolest pedal I have ever owned. Amazing to set up patterns and then play against them. I like the analog sound of it. This is way cooler than the Digitech looper I had, could never get into, and then sold. Sometimes simplicity is paramount.

The things I would most like in an ideal looper pedal would be the ability to speed up and slow down the loops. To do that and not change pitch it would need to be digital and it could possibly lose some of its mojo. :picard:

I would also like it to have an effects loop so you could insert an effect to modulate the loop without affecting the dry signal. :wow what a fantastic idea you have there:

FANTABULOUS!

How about using a looper with midi in so that you could sync it to a click track and put that into the drummer's headphones?
