Best amp for my Jazzmaster?

Post by stripes »

Right now I'm playing a Jazzchorus but it's an old one and can't really be transported anymore. I wanna get a fender amp but have no idea where to start. I'm going to go play a bunch of them this week but I thought I would get some opinions anyway. It's an AVRI JM.

Tell us more.

What kind of music you're gonna be playing.

How loud your drummer is.

Where you're gonna be playing.

What you wanna sound like.

Stuff like that.

Sounds like you are playing Jazz? Jazzmaster thru a Jazz Chorus?

Sounds like you need to start eating your Wheaties, stop complaining and carry your Jazz Chorus around.

Hell, ask your jazzy bass player to help you. he's likely playing some 1x10 little combo and loads in with one trip.

Everyone knows that jazzmasters suck anyway. Why don't you just sell that piece of shit. I'll give you $500 for it.

He Can't carry his Jassmaster and His Jazz Chorus on His Jazzy,

Most of the fender tube stuff is pretty on point.
If you want something light and portable that comes close to the jazz chorus find a princeton 2x10 Chorus amp, I flipping love mine

Plus it looks like those arms move so you can still play guitar!

Fender 75 = best amp ever!

But Mr. Stripes (I LOVE your avatar), what kind of price range are you looking at? There are a lot of good Fender amps in a variety of prices, sizes, weights, wattages. It would help if we knew just a little more about what you plan on using it for.

I knew a guy who got a vintage Hiwatt 100 watt combo when he got his label advance (remember back when that stuff happened?) He played a Jazzy into it and sounded rad, though details are fuzzy 17 years on. But while it was better, he still sounded okay with the M-80 he used before that, so who knows?

Maserati: the one guitar player plays JMs with Hiwatts. Saw them several years ago and his sound was fucking great. So it may fit :idk:

hello. i'm not playing jazz. the dummer doesn't play loud. it will probably be used most of the time with very minimal/if any other instrumentation backing me. i'm leaving a band that i play guitar in to focus more on a solo thing that i want to do involving loops and warm textures. here are some newish recordings that i did of my music.

http://emilysprague.bandcamp.com/releases
(i'm female)

it's warm and dreamy so i obviously want a cleaner amp that can sound warm and dreamy. i use a bunch of pedals so it would be nice if those sounded good through it. (like the fuck od, rrr, echo park, organizer, blues driver, fuzz factory + more coming and going all the time)

i'm going to play a bunch of amps this coming week but i thought i would inquire on here anyway..

Oh, you guyz! (who says sexism in rock n' roll is dead?)

But, MS. stripes, you pretty much can't go wrong with Fender tube amps. Voxes are great too, a little "chimy-er" if that makes sense.

I was in the same place about a month ago looking for a new amp for more-or-less the same thing. I played a bunch of different things and ended up finding that Fender 75 at a shop for $375. I was absolutely smitten and bought the thing two days later. Just trying out a bunch of different stuff is the best way to go, but looking for direction can't hurt either.
