Pedal Friendly/Unfriendly amps

I pretty much try + keep amps based on how well they do with od-fuzz-distortion...

Blackheart Handsome Devil is suprisingly awesome for a budget amp. The gain from the amp is medium, but it like everything from boosts to every OD I've tried with it, to muffs up to Meathead and Megalith. The preamp loves being hit with all that stuff, and the Eminence speakers have great bass when you push them that way.

Traynor Bass Master YBA-1 seems like it was made for any kind of dirt, esp heavy-darker OD and fuzz, tho boost and lighter od aren't as awesome.

Laney GH50L is a beast with any kind of dirt. The amp is voiced pretty bright so the darker fuzz sounds best to me.

The Crate solid state amps I've had I'm not impressed with with fuzz, boosts, or heavy distortion, and were just OK with overdrives. Ampeg VH140-C has the most awesome solid state distortion channel ever made in an ss amp, but is pretty good with any kind of dirt on the clean channel. Randall Cyclone's clean channel is good with pedals too, tho it takes some dialing in cuz the eq is crazy touchy.

Didn't think the Crate Vintage Club 50 I had was great with heavier fuzz and dist. Same with Marshall JCM800 combo.

There's so interesting info about amps' tonestacks etc at http://www.gmarts.org/index.php?go=212 - could be that certain tone stacks of certain amps just don't like the pedals that we like to put in front of them. I can attest to a Crowther Hotcake sounding shit loads better in front of an AC15/30 style amp than a Marshall. Other pedals don't seem so finicky.

my Laney VC30 LOVES any kind of pedals i run into it, even the Octave Multiplexer...i think it's largely because of the Celestion low-frequency Greenbacks which were designed as bass speakers and IMO hold on longer before breaking up, but its combination of an AC30 topology and a Marshall-esque tone stack may also be responsible. for a 4xEL84 amp it's got a lot of non-Voxy sounds, and gets a lot of ragged Fendery cleans when set right. the Two Tube Wonder--my Electar Tube 10--being adapted to a self-biasing 12AX7/6V6 setup, also loves pedals but has little low end below about 200-250Hz unless i use an extension cabinet because of its 8" speaker.

Traynor may be an option it does match my 212. What about the Egnator Rebel 20 anyone tried one of those
