i dig the Blues Deville...never really been a huge Carvin fan...check craigslist for a Bassman? they pop up all the time, and a Bassman dominates a blues deville in my book...

That seems to be the general word. The Carvin just isn't my style at all. I'm more of a vox/fender cleans with all sorts of pedal madness running into the amp.

if you like the DRRI, yes...it's a well more expensive amp with more watts and a bigger speaker, so you'd be getting a deal. assuming we're talking modern AC15 of course.

got an offer for a 50th anniversary Hot Rod Deluxe in exchange for my AC15. how is the clean gonna compare? i'm not interested in the overdriven tones, thanks to pedals, and she said it's also had it's connections resoldered. would I be able to play it at apartment levels?

i'm not very into the Hot Rod series amps myself, but whether you like the sound or not is a matter of taste. at 40 watts you're going to be down in the 0 to 2 range for apartment use, more like 0 to 1 when the neighbors are home; it's still be loud-for-your-living-room at 2, trust me. IMO the cleans on the Hot Rods are not comparable to blackface/silverface clean tones at all, and are more reminiscent of the old Bassman circuit and its Marshall-oid derivatives but not as nice; they aren't amps i'd choose for clean tones. honestly, to me if you're going to play a Hot Rod you might just as well play a Classic 50 and save the dosh. but you may find that it's just the thing.

necrobump because I found myself in another situation. The AC15 is too much for my apartment. I love Fender cleans, but I've heard the DRRI is pretty fucking loud too. How's about the Princeton Reverb? I like the tones, but how are they with pedals, and are they loud enough for jam situations? I'd probably upgrade the speaker if needed be, but I can probably trade my AC15 for a PRRI straight up...thoughts?

Do it those are nice amps
I actually ended up selling the Carvin head and the cab and later discovering a Fender 75 which I traded my AC15 for.
Very happy. Very, very happy.
