Yeah it sounds pretty fantastic. Just a little expensive. And complicated. And expensive.

Once you get your pedalboard to the point you want it, you'll look down at it and say, "holy shit....I could have bought a top of the line laptop for this money". So if the sounds were better or even close to individual pedals, it'd be worth it.....but if a special bass is needed for it.....yeah....way too expensive.

that's the bugaboo. you DO need a midi instrument designed for zero latency to even THINK about replacing an analog audio signal -> pedalboard. annnnnnd.... some of the toanz still aren't the same. probably good enough for live, but you're giving up something on the dirt stuff, gaining a lot on the That's Not Bass stuff.

I try not to think about it that way; actually, my pedals I think of as investments that could be dealt off if needed...but it'd have to be a BIG need.

Well, ideally, Midi instrument plus softsynths and VSTs and the 1/4 out to run OD, and Fuzz, whaever else you must have old school, BiAmped or midi DI boxed and one amp for regular bass tones ,type set-up. That way you could do Mid only, Midi and regular bass, and regular bass only.

I look at it the same way as Mudd. I can part out my pedal board if need be, but it's much harder to part out a laptop, not to mention resale value. But! I do understand what you're saying and you do make a good point MSU.
