that would be such a weird trip if it happened. almost an impossible magical thing. so bloody implausible that it could actually occur. and i so want to have a library job again and go back to San Francisco. I was so happy living by Golden Gate Park and riding my bike every day. that was the only time in my whole life i felt like i was home.

That stripey tie is damn fine. I could never pull that off. Godspeed.
Today I tried someone's tip about using a brass strip to add a third spring to the stupid two-spring SGV vibrato system, and it worrrked soooooo welllllll. SO MUCH BETTERRRRRRRRRR No more going half a step out of tune; now I can crank it around and it's just barely off, easily corrected by slightly moving the bar in the opposite direction. It has .11 Chromes now, but with .10s it'd probably be perfect. Maybe it was just not meant for heavy strings. I was planning on just blocking the thing but it's good to go now!

i just talked to the reference librarian at the place i worked twenty years ago. it was a total trip. she attended my wedding to X2 back in 1990. she still sounds exactly the same. we agreed that rather than her being a reference on my application, i should mention that i worked with her in the cover letter.

this should be interesting. i just got done doing the online application for the job which is more or less the job i had twenty years ago. i feel like i should learn that song by the Roches about "can i have my old job back?" "giiiiiiiiive me a broom and i'll sweeeeeep my way to heeee-aven..." and in the meanwhile i have a phone interview for a tech writer job at 4:45 tomorrow, and a cataloging job at Mills College that's right up my street to apply for plus a half-dozen other things i could actually get. God willing, the job market actually seems to be opening up for sods exactly like me just in the nick of time. my ass may get saved yet.
