Warwick, that sounds like a cool playing situation and meeting good peeps...very nice.
Man, I am shaking my board up some more...I said F it and am getting a V-Bass. I can't afford a VB-99, or rather I am unwilling to sacrifice everything that would have to go to get one. If it is mind blowing enough I may be willing to make those sacrifices for the VB-99. I finally ran into some great sounding audio clips of the V-Bass and I decided to do it. Those youtube clips all sucked balls. I am pretty sure that I am not going to bust out the V-Bass with my band, at least for a long time. It will most likely be at home and with my Computer music stuff, which after I get a dedicated music computer, will be up and running again.
Dude Torche kicks all kinds of major ass. Their newest album has been on constant play since I bought it.
See, I really wanted to like Torche, but his voice was...odd. And kind of grating? It felt like it didn't fit. But that was just the 2005 album I think I listened to. Any other recommendations?
sooooo.... my grrL just bought me a 64 gig new iPad. 'm out and can't load up stuff till i get to a wifi spot or home. can't wait to try Maschine on it. any other good musicy app recommendations for the idevices?

I may end up getting my mom an iPad for her e-mail, net surfing, etc; in return, she gives me her Macbook Air (mom has a habit of buying new technology and then refusing to learn how it works...it always gets compared to her ancient-yet-still-running-fine Mac Classic desktop machine). I've been wanting a laptop for awhile now, and while the Air wouldn't be my first choice, if she just hands it to me I'll say thanks and be grateful to have it...even if it doesn't have an optical drive, and I may end up buying duplicate software that speaks Apple, and it's only the 11" model, and and and...
I'm not really a fan of Apple systems in general (in spite of my firm semi-professional belief that most of the world would be better of w/a Mac rather than a Windows PC), but I freakin' LOVE my iPod, and as long as I can WiFi the Air here in the house, I'll make it work for me. Assuming that this does happen.

What made you decide to go in this direction? More options?

I've had an iPad for a while and never use it. I really should look into it more. I think Warwick does stuff with it though.

Have any of you guys used a laptop for most of your FX?
I was looking at my board...and if I valued all of it by how much I could get for it used....it would be like $2,700 or more....board, flight case, power supply....everything.
Delta and his experimentation has me wondering how much a laptop would cost that could cover most of those sounds or even IF there's a laptop or some other thing like that where the sound quality is equal to or better than most of these individual FX. I mean....I have a Timeline, Goatkeeper, Faye's Her (incoming), Megalith, etc....so I'm not thinking there's anything out there that can do all of that crazy stuff......just really has me wondering.
i've never had good luck with processing live sounds with a laptop. the latency issue makes the really interesting effecs not as.... effective with bass and shizz. using a comp as a sound source (like Battery or Kontakt or Reason) is pretty awesome. that's we roll for my singer on keys, works a charm.
Gozerz - yah. been looking around, Animoog speaks to me, some of the studio/recording/sequencing options are cool. the ReBirth looks fun too, but i'm SO dl'ing the Electribe. that's so fucking hawt.
the KaossPad thing looks cool too.
