Anyone heard of ESG? That to me is the definitive dance punk. With emphasis on the dance. I stronnnnnngly recommend finding Come Away with ESG. 1983 minimalist post-punk, straight from the bronx, goodness.

yeah dude. Scenes 1-13 was amazing.

Knock Knock Knock is really good too.

Sub Pop basically somehow like tore the band apart, the original singer left, and they got a guitarist. The key player started to sing, and whatever. New HHH is good, but, i mean there are only a few bands that can do dance punk like that.

Dismemberment Plan has some fucking awesome dance punk shit on emergency & I and before.

And there's also Buy by James Chance and the Contortions, which is a mix between 80s no wave and James Brown. Like a stark mix. Fucking incredible.

Heh... I saw them live twice, once opening for Beck & The Cardigans at a show I crewed on. Their entire light show was strobes, half of which pointed directly out at the audience. Needless to say, the kids who came for "Lovefool" didn't even know what hit 'em.

Also, Beck & The Cardigans had bajillions of tons of equipment... and ATR had, like, four cases. When we went up to move their stuff, they were like "no, that's cool, don't worry about us... but thanks." Figures that the loudest band onstage was the mellowest offstage...
