Lost treasures. Releases or bands that went under the radar
Sometimes great music gets lost in the fuzz of time or under the gallons of dirge that is released daily.
I thought it would be good to start a thread to bring them back into the public conscience.
I start with Seattle band Truly and their release Fast Stories... from Kid Coma. This band included members of Screaming Trees (Mark Pickerel on drums) and Soundgarden (Hiro on bass). I don't think this release got the support from its label Capitol it deserved.

Another band I miss and thought were great were Urusei Yatsura. Scottish band with a love for anime, Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth and Pavement but in my opinion more than just a rip off. The album 'We are Urusei Yatsura' was a classic!

I am interested to hear some gems from other ILFers I may not discover otherwise. Fire away!

Thanks for starting this thread. Truly sounds awesome, I was unaware but these clips are tops.
I always really liked Faraquet but don't know anyone who knows them.

You Say Party! We Say Die! were a Canadian indie/dance-punk band that were just plagued by shitty luck. They never toured the US (visa issues or something) and their drummer (who was soooooo good) suffered a brain hemorrhage on stage and died a couple days later (they then took the "We Say Die!" out of their name. All in all, an awesome band with a stagnated career and a nice progression stylistically from album to album.

It strikes me as strange (most positive word I could come up with) to name your band after (whether deliberately or not) a genre OTHER than the one you're going to play. But then again I have a bunch of weird, nit-picky rules about band names.

Well if they were a gospel band, named Gospel, that would actually seem stranger to me. At least the word Gospel has connotations other than a genre of music.
In any case, guess what I'm going to call my post-neo-classical-grungecore-core band! Give up? It's Post Neo Classical Grungecore Core Band #A0011. Hell yeah. Like us on facebook and get kicked in the balls, face, then balls again! Then, a shirt.

True on both accounts. Not trying to be a bitch, just kind of putting it out there. I'd probably let it slide if I thought Gospel was a good name to begin with.

Urusei Yatsura! YES!! I used to play them my college radio show!
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

True dat. Lately it seems like people aren't even trying: Kindness, Matrimony, Baths, HEALTH. I mean, Baths for fucks sake. I like that guy too but come on.

Such a great songwriter... then he literally disappeared. Seriously, no one knows exactly what happened to him (look it up, its an interesting story). Anyways his one and only release U.F.O. which he released in 1970 is really good.

clann zu was an interesting irish/australian group. they were on G7 Welcoming Committee for a minute before they split up. two of them formed MY DISCO.
