I've been GAS free and haven't bought or sold a pedal in over a year.

Did this just turn into GAS Anonymous?

If so, I need a sponsor...

I would yes.

If you could find one cheap, I'd say it'd be a good idea!

I have

1x Rat Clone
1x Rat Tail
1x Megalith
1x TGD (on its way I hope)

and I have been kicking around the idea of selling everything but the clone and getting a Caprid or VSS Twosome. I also sent John Lyons a pm about a custom fuzz that I am not firm on yet.

Almost though about selling the POG2 I got two weeks ago.

Fuck me I need help.

from what i've seen of the Twosome, you'd be losing capabilities by unloading the current gear which wouldn't be replaced by the VSST or by the Caprid, especially if you've got a TGD coming in. it seems especially odd to sell both Rats since you obviously like them or you wouldn't have two. why not wait and see what kind of sick shit the TGD will do with the other stuff running into/after it? maybe after you get the GD integrated, think about something Muff-ular.

and try matching the gain on the Rats with both of them on...if you can get the clipping synched JUST right, it can produce a wonderful naturally compressed sound that's great for sustained leads.

I sold my TimeLine and won't be able to afford another for a long time. I was checking out the Vox DelayLab...I have a Zoom B3 (pretty damn good pedal overall actually) and there are some decent delays on it...I play bass. Some delay is very cool, but do I need a ton of delay right now?

I would have to sell my MountainKing Magnetar for a delay pedal. I have no monies to just buy something.
That would be stupid huh?

If you were going to start your electronic stuff back up....I'd say it's a toss up. If you're just doing the band stuff, right now....keep the fuzz.

BUT:

I have the feeling that I am holding out without buying new toys for so long that I am going mad with gas. I might explode.

Polytope or Clean Clarinot because I am definitely lacking awesome warbles on the board.
Koma Filter/Sequencer, because I really like the delay and I could use the sequencing for the drone band.
I am also kinda missing some stuff I sold, like the Mini Wolf CPU and the Prometheus.
I want to get into playing by myself more again but for that to really be fun I'd need a looper.
A recording/interface shizz I can use with both my ipad and my laptop.
A bi-amping setup consisting of two 15W heads with 2x12 cabs. One british crunchey voiced, one american chrome clean.
And i won't even start on fuzzies.

Shit. What to do? Can someone be so kind as to explain to me a) how to rob a bank without getting caught or b) that I don't need all this stuff?

You don't need this stuff! As cool as many of them are, many times I find even more inspiration with a stripped down board. You play around with the current combination of pedals you have and explore new settings, discovering sonic capabilities you never knew you had. :idk:

I've wanted some more modulation for a loooooong time. Also a better reverb (holy stain.................sigh) BUT my two cents to this thread is that if we all just look at the majority of genre-defining or changing musicians out there, they all use or at least started with crappy/limited gear. SunnO))) always talk about how they got into those amps way back because they were cheap because nobody cared about them at the time. Now everyone wants one, and they're way more expensive. Think about famous left-handed players and the fact that they hardly/never used left-handed guitars.... For those doomy folks on here, what about Electric Wizard? They started off (and may still use :idk:) with shitty gear. People have asked on here, "how do I get the Burzum tone?" or whatever, and the answer is, USE SHITTY GEAR. My vote is for more suggestions for cheap gear that sounds as good as expensive gear, at least to kill GAS.

Fuuuuu- the jazzmaster has been popular, for surf in the 60's and alt rock int the 80's and shoegaze in the 2010's because it has always sucked for the thing it was designed for, jazz. Offsets were designed to be played sitting down, yet they're sooooooo awesome for music that makes you want to jump around and do drugs and smack somebody.
