Re: Pedal Art Snobbery
I generally to find aesthetics to be of minimal importance when I buy a pedal.
Sound dominates looks.
If the pedal is well made and sounds good, then I couldn't care less about the way they look.
My only concern with really fancy looking boxes is that they will be ruined at gigs and whatnot.

Re: Pedal Art Snobbery
Fear not about ruining the cosmetics on your pedals, the next market will be in relic'd pedals.

It's more like a bonus for me. One of my favorite pedals is the Depth Charge and it's pretty boring. Coming up fast though is The Elements and they're beautiful.

i worry about my prettier pedals. my 3-knob Great Wall is one of the Heartben-painted ones, and i'm always afraid that it's going to get fucked up. my custom Algal Bloom got dinged way too soon after i got it, too. that's one thing i appreciate about mass-market pedals...who cares if you get a big ol' scrape on your MXR or EH box? now it's just like everybody else's, yea?

My ABsynth is heartben painted, and I've had it longer than any other pedal I currently own...it's still flawless, without me babying it.

For my own personal use, I couldnt give a shit less what a pedal looks like. I'm here to kick your ass, if you have much of a chance to look at my pedal board we're doing something wrong.
BUT, as far as my products go, I take the art very seriously, because I give a shit about visual art, and I can't just go putting out ugly shit when I coudl be putting out beautiful shit.

Don't really see the point you're making on those two designs, neither one seems particularly inspired and they have similar use of color and shape and approach.
No cohesive theme, but these are pedals, not a gallery exhibition!
