Your Favorite...a Big Al SSS :animal:

I got a sweet deal on one. I have a trade waiting if I don't love it. I went from really weirded out by the body style to digging it. I think like the Bongo, it doesn't take pictures really well when it is vertical. When it is being played it looks good to me. I am also on my way to EBMM fanboi status  . That 25th I got from JWAR has blown my mind. Fit, feel, tone, electronics, looks. It is the full package. The Big Al has similar electronics and the 3 single coils, so I am stoked to try them out.

The Big All that I am getting is Black/Maple. I talked to a tattoo artist buddy of mine about painting some old school American Traditional Flash art on Parchment (in the shape of the Pickguard), so I can get a clear pickguard, and have a bit of customization on the bass. I think it could turn out really sharp.

I'll def put up before and after pics. We'll probably burn, or make it look burned around the edges to give it a really vintage vibe. My buddy does some really cool paintings and tats in that Traditional style, big bold lines, etc. He has some sweet looking eagles on something else he did that could translate. I know the Pickguard shape is a bit funny but I'll just let him do whatever he wants...he is the artist.

Here is part of something he painted. His name is Tim Strating, he tats at Anthem Tattoo in Gainesville, FL. He apprenticed under my really good friend Sleepy Dave, also at Anthem. I have work from both of them.

Wasn't a fan of the Big Al styling at first but it's been growing on me. Looking forward to some pics!

Does anyone here have any experience with Epofani ps 400's? Dude on TB offered me one for my GK head. I have NO idea what they even sound like.

BIG AL...Holy SHit...Tone Monster!!!!!!! Putting a pic up in the show your bass thread.

Seriously, this bass plays like a dream. I was worried about the neck size (too small) but it is a non-issue, super smooth and fast.

Those 3 pickups, really have a lot of different, usuable sounds.

I broke out my StingRay 5 HH on a whim, and it's like riding a bike. Strings are nice and dead, but a little heavy for my taste now.
I haven't played this bass in probably two years and it's still just insanely comfortable (and I've only been playing short scale, recently).
I'm in love all over again.

Haha. I hear you. I def think the bass and amp need to be taking care of, first. You're sitting pretty, my man.

I just put some Circle K Strings on my Status. I love the feel to them. I've never had my B string be so....usable. Very nice. I'm not sure if it's bright enough for my taste and we'll see how long they last, but I think they might be the perfect strings for you, if you haven't tried them out, yet.
