Nope, it reminded me an Ibanez Standard Fuzz, but with more bass and volume.

The Acetone is like a Superfuzz, but with fatter tone and different mids shape; it seems that it also stacks better with overdrives and dists. I've A/B tested it with a Wattson, MJM China Fuzz and an original blue/orange Univox.

Shin-ei FY-2 is great, but you have to mod it and improve its volume output, otherwise it's useless.
You're not a musician, you're a low frequencies generator!

Good deals: starcastic, multi_s, Ragged Trousers, phantasmagorovich x2, delaydecay, Aen, plotkin, TheOndrakGuy, Grandnoise, smallsnd/bgsnd, jskadiang, WtrPlyr, sp3k, AngryGoldfish, dan_abnormal, laekna x11, casperh7, FreakFlagRecordings, MEC x3, CaptainBoxman, wsf1234, durden26, Communarchy, painbeam, hipwaf, shrubber, chutneyfarmer, John, colossus, Jero, Jono, DarkAxel, Lebowsky, Eivind August, Snufkino, boneslygrifter

I think Creepy Fingers did some too.

I think Kosta has/had one of these - the Fuzz Master General.

Yeah man, that is one of my favorites right there. I'm an octave fuzz F I E N D , and the Fuzz Master General is one of the most ferocious in my stable for sure. Great pedal.

Yep. Though I must say, I preferred the Wau Fuzz that I had to the Big Spider (I believe the Wau Fuzz is an Ibanez Standard Fuzz + a middling so-so wah.) The Ibanez Standard Fuzz in it was way hairier than the Big Spider. The BS seemed too clean and polite next to the SF. The decay on the SF is way more organic, moves around a lot more on the way out if you catch my meaning.

Aaaand found an FM-2 schematic & PCB layout if anyone's interested, which was more difficult than I expected since all of FSB's and DIYStompboxes' links were dead: http://homemadefx.web.fc2.com/fm2.html

I'll probably try making one this summer.

A worthy pursuit if the FMG is any indication.

Niiiiice demos! Love these nasty fuzzes, I get that sort of sound with an upper but it'd be cool to have an FY-2 or something. The FM-2 is HUGE, which isn't what I normally expect from nasty vintage fuzz pedals.

Maybe 'cause you haven't tried yet an original Fender Blender...
