OMG, it's taken me a while to think about this. I don't really make gear purchases based on what other people are playing. Albums are out.
That being said: Agharta & Pangaea Miles Davis (Pete Cosey's use of Jordan Bosstone) Jimmy Nolen w/ James Brown (Acoustic Black Widow) Os Mutantes Os Mutantes (fuzz) I would buy a Magnatone Mark IV (or V), if I could find & afford one, because James Brewer played one in And This Is Free

I'm not the kind of dude that looks for specific sounds much, but there are certain references, sometimes I find myself sounding like something and it makes me recognize it and smile and like it. Sometimes I do look for some stuff though.
Sonic Youth - ca. Goo era from when they were indie rock heroes Shellac - Terraform (rarely happens, actually. But sometimes I dial in that sound on the Harmonic Percolator and have fun.) Sigur Rós - Agætis Býrjun (Where's my bow? I haven't done this in ages!!) Neu - Neu Songs:Ohia - The Lioness (That reverb & OD!!)
There are some sounds I'd like to do, and I think they are all related to the HM-2. (Slint, Gore Slut, Damnation a.d.) But I keep delaying that buy, don't know why.
