So I met up with Sonny last night for a transaction and while bullshitting we discovered that my Emperor 2x12 with the delta pro12a's actually used to belong to him! Small freaking world!

Yeah, that Hex is beautiful. I called up Verellen last night and finalized the order. The only thing that is up in the air at this point is the badge, I'm not sure if I want to go with just the "V" or if I want to go with the whole VERELLEN name. He seemed really excited about the whole project which got me even more excited!
Also, AA, Sonny, told Ben about the 2x12 with the Delta pros and he seemed intrigued. He really backed up the Deltas too

With a cab that small just go with the V..... that way if you flip I can buy it to match my jet city verellen head...
I'm telling ya man they're great speakers, their copies of I believe the EV 12L and there's alot of debate about which one is better, I haven't tried the EV's so

Hahaha. I'd been meaning to ask you about that Jet City. How do you dig it?

Ahhhhh hmmm where to start.... Okay well I absolutely LOVE the clean sounds (which is all it does
) I'm able to conjure up wicked jazz style cleans (think portishead) to meaty on the fringe of break up bass heavy doom cleans, right now I have it setup to basically mimic the Russian Circles clean tones (i love sullys clean tone). I use it witht he master dimed and the gain basically as a volume control (basically mimicing a NMV circuit). It gets loud as balls for a lil 20 watt head, I can drown out my bandmates 2 100watt fender SS 2x12's with ease at only 4 on the gain. Here's the issue, EL84 tubes are picky about fuzzes and OD's in front of them (theres another thread on here that discusses the reasons) It does not like anything with huge bass and high output, it starts getting that horrid blocky sounding distortion with no crunch. So while it's picky I've found a few pedals that work really good with it, mainly OD's, namely the dr. scientist the elements (sounds amazing with this amp) and the OCD works pretty good but isnt as gritty and gainy as it is through my orange. The only thing i wish mine had (and will be adding in the future once my Dunwich comes in) is an FX loop, as I would much rather have my preamp eq before the time based effects, I feel the EQ after changes the tones of the delays and verbs in a way the pedal wasnt meant to have done. The presence control, is EXTREMELY responsive and makes huge differences in the tone, i usually run mine around 4. The EQ its self is very responsive, not quite as much as the presence control, but does make alot more then subtle differences and but not as drastic a change as alot of your usual FMV style eq.s Also for such a small head it has HUGE low end, not a bass amp by any means bu waaaayy more then you would expect by looking at it. Oh also the biggest difference has been retubing it with JJ's, that made alot of difference in how the dirt pedals respond to it. Over all I love the amp it was exactly what i was looking for, a compact loud single clean channel tube amp.Iommic Pope wrote: Skip, you rule. Very cool! That sounds great.
I'm thinking about talking to Ben about possibly modding one of my Valve Junior Combos to have something small that sounds beautiful. I feel like he would turn it into something magnificent.

If he does anything like what he did to the jet city it should be magnificent

Ben gets so excited man. When he he built my head, we talked for a really long time on the phone about it. he loves what he does and it shows. I still love the shit out of my amp. When Helms alee played philly too, it was even cooler getting to talk to him in person and seeing him pumped when you start talking about the amps. Back that dude and his amps hard.

Just got word from Ben that he can't find a Delta Pro in 4 ohms. I SWEAR I saw a distributor with 4 ohm versions. Damn... Looking at the Delta 12LFC, but it's got a 44-3hz range as opposed to the Pro which was 56-5? Ugh. Any other suggestions?

Yeah I was sure i could only find the delta pro 12a in 8ohm versions. I believe that the DP12A is a copy of the EV 12L, maybe you can find one of those in 4 ohms?
*edit* It's a copy of the Ev EVM12L which only comes in 8ohm and 16ohm. Sorry brosephus.

I think I'm going to go with the 12LFC. It's got a little different response to it than the 12a, but I'm not super opposed to a dark sound to my guitar. I play in the neck most of the time anyways, so maybe it will work out in my benefit!
I tried looking for the DP12A but I couldn't easily find one unfortunately

Looking at the schematics the high drop off isn't until around 5k, you should be fine unless your looking for those spanky sparkly fendery clean tones, which somehow I don't think you are.
Oh and you will def got more of the low low end outta that beast, the the DP12A. I like the DP12A because it starts ducking out right around the frequencies where the kick drum shines but its not a sharp cut off, so live the kick cuts through but your bass still has plenty of the low end. With the 12LFC you'll be shaking shit off the walls in a good way!

YES. I think Ben was just affraid I might be after those Fender cleans, because as soon as I told him most of the time I play in the neck anyways, he seemed to chipper up a bit and sounded confident in the 12LFC!

Awesome, he has plenty of experience building and using his amps on stage so i trust his knowledge!
Random OT side note: I'm still searching for the ultimate speaker that can actually replicate 10-12Hz (not kHz but Hz) while handling 1000watts rms solid state
I want to have a sine wave generator that will pump out 10hz consistently during live shows...... Psycho acoustics FTW!!!!

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, but why do you prefer a 4 ohm speaker in this case?
