Anyone had much experience with a Matchless Chieftain?

Post by GreatAnt »

I'm looking at ordering one of these late this year and am gathering as much info on it as possible.

My main woes were how well it can take fuzz and od?

The other amp I'm really impressed by and is a potential threat is a Hiwatt custom 50.

Would love to hear any experiences with both.

Cheers

your main woes should be how much money you shelled out for an amp

Money comes and goes, I seek things that inspire me, I don't mind spending.

Fair enough sir. I've always found the matchless stuff to be kind of overrated. To my understanding, they're modeled after Vox AC30's. If that's the case, it's probably cheaper to get one of those super sexy Vox hand wireds.

Yup, For that money I'd have someone build me something custom. Or buy something old.

Not the type to mind spending myself. Never caught any Matchless bug though. Seeing the Avalon made me want one, briefly. Trying one did not.
I play.
