Re: BASS DUDES. I need your help in choosing between cabs!
Hmmmm let's see here....
Eminence Delta Pro 12a's - Best dual duty speaker I've found, but you need a big amp to push em at 400watts a piece. I have an emperor 2x12 ported with a pair of these in here and I love it, I currently use it for bass but i've used it numerous times for guitar with amazing results, huge low end / smooth highs / present mids. I highly recommend these but they only come in 8ohms, so you would need a 2x12 to get 4 ohms. If the 15 is anything like 12 I would hit that in a heart beat and i believe they come in 4ohm's.
Eminence Big Ben 15's - I have one of these in a ported sunn 1x15 (an old sunn pa speaker i took the tweeter out of) It is the ultimate scooped metal 15", huge tight lows, really clear and "sparkly" highs, but it has no mids at all. It's also a really high wattage speaker, but doesnt require as much power as the delta. I would suggest this for guitar only personally. Also only comes in 8ohms.
In my 3x15 I have weber michigan 15's which are much more "organic" (read less coloring) then the eminence speakers, they also don't have as much low end until you crank em up loud. Which is what I wanted, I needed a cab that wouldnt flub out with a cranked 200watt tube head powering it.

Here is the list of stuff I am considering in a spreadsheet. The dimensions are how much smaller the cabs are to my Windsor:
Avatar - 1x12 - 250w neo - 39lb - -5.25"w - -14.25"h - +2.75"d - 1 year warranty - $400 shipped
Avatar - 1x15 - 400w neo - 59lb - -5.25"w - -5.00"h - +2.75"d - 1 year warranty - $400 shipped
GK - 2x12 - 600w neo - 34lb - -10.25"w - -7.00"h - +.5"d - Muscian's Friend optional 2/3 year warranty - $350 shipped
Verellen - 1x12" - 400w Eminence Delta Pro 12" - ??? weight, but heavier than the neos - unknown dimension - ability to customize anything, really. - lifetime warranty - $550 shipped

Re: BASS DUDES. I need your help in choosing between cabs!
Ben Verellen didn't think that I'd be able to find a 15" that I think would sound good with both bass and guitar, which I was surprised by.
AA- I did some research and it indeed looks like you can get Eminence Delta Pros at 4 ohms from USSpeaker.com, which means I'd be putting 120w into 400w. I don't think I'd get much speaker break up at that point, but I'm not sure....
The GK is the cheapest, lightest, and I can get a 2 year warranty. HOWEVER. I read that one person had a difficult time with the bracing over time and that it began to rattle, BUT he was running 500w into the 600w cab

Re: BASS DUDES. I need your help in choosing between cabs!
ALRIGHT. So I've made up my mind.
Sealed 1x12 cab from Verellen with a 12" Eminence Delta Pro 4 ohm 400 watt speaker.
Going to try to get it stained either like the face of the Meatsmoke, or dark like the Loucks.
I also requested to leather straps on one side to carry it by.
Hoping that I can get at least one dimension of the cab to fall around 21" so I can set the head comfortably on top.
I will keep you all updated!
Thank you guys for your help. I think this cab will sound awesome

Just got the quote I submitted yesterday back from Emperor, their ported 1x12" with an Eminence Delta 12FLA 500w 4 ohms for $425. I figured if nothing else this might be a good reference guide for someone looking for a nice small bass cab

Good choice my friend!!! If your using a 120watt head into it you will never blow that speaker, the only time i've had mine start to flub out was with my orange ad200b with master on 10 and gain at like 6 or 7 with the bass cranked rather heavy with a detuned 8 string. TL;DR you will be fine.
I want pics when it comes in!!!!

I'm really excited too. I'm glad to hear the speaker will never flub or blow, that makes me feel a lot better.
It's going to be a hefty little sucker, but I have no doubts at all that it's going to look and sound absolutely killer.
What's awesome is that it's still 1/3 the size of my 4x12 cab.
I told him I wanted it stained dark like the Loucks. BUHHHH I CANT WAIT
And I just found out that my Kramer 450B is in North Dakota FAAAAAAAK

Re: BASS DUDES. VERLLEN 1x12 400w!
Just remember mine's a ported cab, I don't know how they react in sealed cabs, and they do push alot of air.
Mmmmm love me a dark stained cab......
North Dakota what in Fargo is it doing there????

Re: BASS DUDES. VERLLEN 1x12 400w!
I was doing some reading on the speaker itself and it seems that the Delta pro doesn't mind being in sealed or ported, which is nice. I'm thinking the sealed cab will make it a bit more punchy, but I guess I won't know until it is here!
And yeah.... Its going to look amazing. Verellen's wood work is top notch. CANNOT RESIST SEXY GRAINS AND DARK STAINS.
And yeah, I have no clue about the North Dakota bit. It looks like there was QUITE a bit of communication between Canadian and US customs before it arrived in the US, however.

Damn. I was going to suggest Hex cabs, but you look like you just placed your order. I just got a giant killer from him (thiele ported 1x12) and the thing drowns out my entire band when i crank it. He does custom speakers as well. and i think he was saying he wanted to do a 1x15, 1x18, or 1x21" speaker much the same. He just built a crazy 2x15+2x12 with matching 6x12 for the band gaza. https://www.facebook.com/hex.cabs
this my giant killer:
