Noise box/synth in small enclosure (4ms, DBA, Effector 13)
First time poster. Asked this same question of TGP and realised it was the wrong place to ask.
So I'm looking to get a completely insane noise box that does random glitches and bleeps and blips and crazy modulated laser noises with oscillations and random stutters. I already have a WMD Geiger Counter and want something to complement this. I have considered the 4ms Noise Swash, but it is just too big to fit on my board (The Mini Swash is also too big). Anything the same size as a standard Wampler OD or similar that can do this sort of stuff?

Note that if you like the Wolf Computer, there were Wampler OD-sized versions produced as well... in face, I think that the most recent batch was that smaller size...
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

This is definitely the right place to ask the fuZzheads and noisemongers for their dirty little secrets.

... if You're looking for a noise SYNTH, a handheld synth that 's not a guitar pedal, I suggest You to seriously consider Dwarfcraft Devices Rot Yr Brain. That's my choice anyway, been for a few years now my trusted noise engine if I'm not for some reason bringing my whole pedalboard to sessions. Four square wave oscillators, set in pairs and controlled by joysticks, and two volume knobs. Notes don't drift away and it's even tuneable enough if You run it through a tuner pedal. Definitely not just a toy. Oh, and another evil-cool thing is that it's always on. There's no bypass, there is only ZUUL!
Other Dwarfcraft synth stuff includes the Thumping Double Square Snakes synth, and the Stomping Double Square Snakes (the version with input for guitar, bass or whatever), and SOMMS (also with input) are all cool sounding droning/noise synth boxes. SOMMS is on my acquisition list.
Skychord/ King Capitol Punishment concentrates on noise synths only. Pretty wild. Utopia Synth and Glamour Box have lots of cool features that should keep anybody entertained for longer than his neighbor is willing to be friends with him, and the various versions of the Sleepdrone seems to me a classic of sorts.
Electro Faustus stuff is cheap. Quad can do a lot of musical mayhem, also on my acquisition list, many people like their cheap stuff and it's a nice gateway into noise stuff, their Photo Theremin for example is pretty well liked.
4ms pedals does a lot of crazy stuff. They make both Eurorack modules and guitar pedal versions of these devices and nearly all of the pedals they make seem to oscillate and churn Your guitar sound into an audio abomination that can make those six strings just obsolete.
What else? Hmmm. Seems many new small business in pedal building have a hand held synth or two in their production line. Hmmmm.
Moody Sounds Baby Box noise generator packs their guitar pedals to an internal feedback loop -as far as I know - and it certainly doesn't sound bad at all, gives You LOTS of tweaking pleasure. OhNoHo has a thing called B.B.S. Bleet Box System, Audible Disease builds Dementia, and the Synth Bomb should be fun.
Yeah, there's a lot of cool sounding synth boxes and drone devices out there nowadays, just surf the web a week or two, listen to the demos and try to find out what kind of noises You want, how it should be operated and how much are you willing to pay for it.

Another option is perhaps asking Fuzzhugger, Dwarfraft, Devi, or whomever you may fancy to do a custom build to suit your laser glitching circuit poppin needs.

MASF also makes some funky oscillators and noise-oriented pedals.
My vote goes to year4545 though. That thing is insane. I liked it more than my Wolf CPU.

handmadeelectronicinstruments makes really neat and simple synth boxes for cheap. Trogotronics oscillators are a little bigger, but sound great. The Korg Monotron is tiny but packs a fat punch.
As far as noisy pedals- I vote MASF as well!

I have the King Capitol Punishment (They are now Skychord) Utopia Synth, the Moody Sounds Baby Box and a Chamber of Sounds Jupiter III. The Utopia Synth and the Baby Box cover similar ground, the main difference being that the Utopia Synth is a stand alone unit and the Baby Box has an input for guitar, bass drum machine, etc. The Jupiter III is capable of a lot more, from spacey drones to old school atari sounds, but is no where near as harsh sounding as the other two. No matter which noisebox you go with, use the following pedals to enhance the experience: MXR Bluebox or other octave down pedal for crushing bass, a delay and/or reverb for space jamz, and your favorite flavor of modulation (phase, flanger, hard-chop trem, filter...)
Good B/S/T dealings with: univalve, DannDubbleEwe, Shish, ThePastRecedes, GiAnt_ROboT, chutneyfarmer, Muse FTW, robapov, skullservant, MaxMaps, psychedelicrelic, guitarslinger21, space6oy, theshoegazer, bongoben, osbornkt
