To be fair neither band has ever been to the US before. Maybe it isn't as big a problem elsewhere? They are from France, and New Zealand.
To my knowledge, europe is a bit milder but not so different.

Re: the happiness, excitement, and general contentedness thr
My roommate is planning to move back home in the next 3 weeks, and still pay her share of the rent and half of the cable bill for the next 3 months.
Sooo, I'll basically have an entire apartment even more entirely to myself for the next 3 months.
Apparently she's got some family issues going on, and I didn't want to press her for details, so I feel bad about that, but, still. Roommate-less apartment.

Heh, one of my best friends is the tech/social media writer for Forbes online, and he posted a response/commentary article on that Tesla comic, and now all of The Oatmeal fanboi retards are trying to bomb him on twitter about it. It's actually quite damn funny to watch, because The Oatmeal did a response where they actually concede like half his points, and yet people are still going on and on about my buddy getting "owned".
Here's the Forbes article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexknapp/2 ... the-devil/

The funny thing is that a lot of people are asking why Forbes is trying to tear apart a webcomic, but they're totally missing the point. Alex wasn't ripping on TheOatmeal, he likes them. He was using their comic as a good excuse to write an article about Tesla and Edison, and clear up a lot of shit that has been said about them, and teach people a little history.

What's a book?
Isn't that, like, an analog blog or something?

I haven't read the article yet, but heaven forbid anyone try to elucidate anyone else with an example from a popular webblog. That's tantamount to heresy.

Re: the happiness, excitement, and general contentedness thr
Ugh. I liked the original Oatmeal comic, but I preferred the Forbes article because it seemed fair and balanced. Then the oatmeal guy comes out with a pathetic, aggressive 'rebuttal' which concedes most of the factual corrections and ignores some other points to suit his idol worship: for instance when challenging "not an ignored god-hero" he leaves "god-hero" alone? Really? And brushing a lot of criticisms away with "oh well Tesla was crazy by then anyway so it doesn't count" is not a solid argument. I don't understand why he's so averse to the idea that Edison wasn't the devil and Tesla wasn't perfect, and while I know it's all exagerrated for humour, I didn't find that funny in the slightest.
I think what pissed me off more than anything though was the 'as a geek' bits. Don't do that. You may as well say "As a strong black woman, I admire tesla"; it's irrelevant and implies that you're speaking for a group of people, some of whom may not want to be spoken for.
And the idolisation of Tesla for working alone while Edison hired other people to help and work for him is just romantic nostalgia for 'a purer age' or whatever. Fuck that.
Also all the aggression, when the Forbes guy just wrote an interesting, researched article which didn't take sides or insult anyone.

A lot of it is the geek/hacker/techie archetype of the iconoclastic solitary genius fixing all of the worlds problems behind a curtain somewhere. It's really really retarded because most (Einstein was an exception) of the major discoveries in the last couple hundred years were made by a team of people working for either 1.) a large company 2.) a government or 3.) a university that was sponsored by said government
