Help-- The Elements and Expression Pedal Question!

Post by speedyone »

Hello,

Just got a new Elements and love it!

I was curious about the expression pedal though. Currently, my signal is:

Elements > Yamaha UD Stomp > Tech 21 DI Para Driver > Alto TS112A powered cabinet.

I was trying to simply use the expression pedal to transfer from my clean tone to high gain. But here's the problem: even with my expression pedal all the way "off", there is still some distortion to my tone. Should the Element's "mix" knob be set a certain way? I currently have it between %75 and %100, should it be at %50 so I can get a truly CLEAN tone when I have the expression pedal fully rocked backward (disengaged)?

Thanks for any help!!!

This is working great with my setup... I have a Source Audio Dual Expression Pedal.
No need to set the mix knob to any setting to have this working.

Which expression pedal are you using... is there a rang knob on your exp pedal?

I'm using a Yamaha FC-7.

There's no range knob on the pedal, but there is an "adjustment spring" screw that is in a little hole inside the bottom of the pedal.

To be more specific about my problem, it is EXACTLY the same problem as Seamuppet talks about in this thread:

Yo speedyone, welcome to ILF!

To me it sounds like your problem is that your expression pedal isn't high enough value, like it's maybe less than 25k resistance and it's not enough to force the mix all the way wet. I couldn't find that information about it.

Seamuppet's problem was an expression pedal that wouldn't have worked properly with most expression controls, the two pots were wired together in it and it couldn't have worked right. I don't think it's the same situation.. I think you need a higher value expression pedal.

When you plug in an expression pedal it completely takes over for the knob on the box, it doesn't matter where it's set. And there's a ton of expression pedals that will work well for you, it just has to have a TRS plug and at least 50ish-k Ohms of resistance.

Thanks for the help Ryan!

I will take the Elements with me to my local guitar shop to see which expression pedals will do the trick.
