Saw em live last night at First Ave. and they were fucking amazing
In between songs they'd always get some ambient drone stuff going as transitions and then get to the awesome riffage. Tone was amazing from both guitarists and the bassist, looked like one guitarist was using a Budda and the other a Bad Cat through this sweet ass Emperor cab. Didn't get a look at the pedalboards but they sure do love using phasers.
They were on tour with Decapitated and Meshuggah. Decapitated was kind of meh, just solid death metal and their guitar tone just sounded like generic line6 metal presets. Meshuggah was pretty fucking dope as well but Baroness stole the show, amazing energy and enthusiasm and some great tone. Definitely getting a ticket when they return in the future

Baizely at least, I know used to use a Twosome and a Whetstone. Not sure if he still does, but it was one of the reasons I got into fuzz, interestingly enough (the other was seeing Boris' pedalboard and wondering what the big pedal with the blue crow was....). And I think I saw somewhere online that he confirmed the Crystal Dagger was used somewhere on the new record. That dude (those dudes?) is a fucking artisan.

I have yet to see them live (missed them by like a day here.....) but in my opinion the vocals are mixed WAYYYYYYY too high in most of the videos I've seen, and it definitely made it feel like the music wasn't as good as on the recordings. It's probably my chief complaint about metal-ish shows, in general.
Ah, good point. I HATE the custom in my country that ALL bands with vocals must have vocals standing out really unnaturally. Fucked up a few stoner bands that way. So damn pissed about that!
