seriously, though, i've been changing stuff up in the last couple of months from the way i've done things in the past. i like the way a MXR-style phaser sounds in front of distortion lately, where it adds a lot more grain and texture to the sound, but still prefer chorus and flanging after dirt and filters. a big thing for me lately is placing the envelope filter after delay, tremolo, and potentially anything else that generates a pulsed signal (e.g. a ring modulator in tremolo mode) so the pulses trigger the EF sweep. i also keep a fuzz at the end of the board so i can demolish everything that came before it...you'd be amazed at what it does to some of the more complicated signals fed into it.

I was just looking at the 3Leaf Audio GR2 EF and I was thinking how awesome it might sound with a slightly longer delay (~400ms?) in the loop and the sweep set really slow, going upwards so the initial note would initiate the sweep but all of the delay's repeats would be effected by a really long sweep. And usually I don't like the sound of envelope filters, but that sounds kind of awesome for some spacey rhythm playing.

Of course I just don't have that kind of cash, so that's not happening.

That's pretty interesting. I put the Jaywalking delay with a Flanger in the loop before the Moog filter, and then put the envelope out of the filter into the expression in of the delay so the triggering of the filter was also increasing the delay time. It was...it was weird. I'll have to give some other weird stuff a try. This is what Summer is for.
