You could write a book about how much you hate writing books. lol. I'd love to have people ask me to help write. I love writing, it's what I'd like to do. Then again, I'd just like to be around the kind of people who DO write books. Then again, I'd just like to be around the kind of people who READ books...

In that case, apparently, I'm friends with a rapist? :?:

My issue with feminism is that it is too broad of a term. There are some legitimate concerns to feminism, there are some outrageous ideas in feminism, and there are some idiots who just like to rattle off facts/statistics about women being underrepresented/underpayed as if that were a sufficient commentary on social forces and as if it presented any sort of reasonable means for their specific audience to incite change (pet peeve, this is also a popular tactic among conspiracy theorists). Feminist ideologies tend to also degrade women as individuals by assuming they all have the same interests. The more ridiculous forms occasionally stumble over their own reactionary, oppositional-defiant logic (I'm looking at you Carole Pateman!).

Basically, rational, pragmatic "feminists" who are actually worth listening to (they do exist, I promise!) should just come up with a name other than feminist to separate themselves from the wackos that the term has been associated with. Then again, this could go for really any political ideology.

speaking of radical feminists...my girlfriend took something i said, misunderstood the meaning and context and now thinks i'm the white devil incarnate...she won't speak to or look at me and texts me cruel cut downs that snipe away at some of my worst insecurities...we've been in love and living together for 2 years and always resolve things immediately and with the utmost civility...she's also stopped taking her depression meds very abruptly and is impossible to talk to rationally... i'm residing with my father for the time being, hoping to hear something from her that isn't fucking awful. i honestly don't know what to do.

I don't think that rational, pragmatic "feminists" exist. I believe that would be humanism if anything. I've always found feminism to be one of those things that attracts the worst examples of the people it means to champion. The best women I know aren't feminists. They are however probably what I would call humanists.

Too much fruit smoothie and too much homemade chili = stomach that feels like a rock.

Alas, I like the mighty Kronos before me I have swallowed the Omphalos and am doomed to regurgitate my vengeful legacy and leave myself to my foretold destruction.

You need to get in touch with her family and get them to intervene or failing that you should have her put on suicide watch. Uncharacteristic behavior coinciding with abrupt changes in medication is not good.

This. Completely.
I know it sucks, but good move on the leaving for the time being.

she's calmed down...people say shit when they're pissed off. but now she's saying she's been wanting see other people now and that our trust has been keeping us together. which amounts to her taking advantage of my good nature, imo...
