jwar wrote:I have seen Slayer live and it was meh. I mean it's Slayer, so it was cool, but I'm kind of over that kind of music. The last like 4 albums Slayer has put out have been fucking awful. It's just the same old same old. I get it motherfuckers. You hate God and like the devil. Whatever.

The best album Slayer did IMO opinion was their cover album Undisputed Attitude. All punk covers and all fucking amazing. IMO again.

Thier new album, World Painted Blood, is really good IMO. It's still Slayer of course... I think they're more nostalgic for me now though so I'm bias. Saw Stabbing Westward too, they opened for KISS (When they started wearing makup again). All of this talk makes me realize I need to get out and see more shows, especially local ones.

I mean, yeah. Slayer is Slayer. I loved Reign in Blood as much as the next guy, but it came out when I was 7. Honestly, I'm mostly going to this show because I always wanted to see Motorhead (and let's face it, Lemmy's lived HARD, who knows how much longer he'll be in our plane of existence) and everyone always tells me how awesome High on Fire is.

I never liked Slayer, never did anything for me. I guess..... I'm not gonna say I dislike them.... just indifferent. :idk:

I could never comprehend why people give me dirty looks when I tell them that.

I never really got into them because all the assholes that weren't cocksuckingjocks worshiped them in 7th grade.. so it took over ten years to actually give them a chance  I like a few songs... but I thought undistributed attitude [mostly old hardcore punk covers] was their best album.. :thumb:

Yeah man that's why I want to see Motorhead too. I had the opportunity to see the Grateful Dead a couple of times prior to Jerry's death and thought, eh, I'll catch them next time... Part of that was because I wasn't a huge Dead fan but wanted to "experience" it. Wish I would have gone now though.

What do they know they, couldn't even pronounce it right. It's Slayaaaaaaaa! Right around the time I saw Slayer my parents made me go to a Neil Diamond concert. I had a good time and he put on a good show. We like what we like not matter what other people opinions are.

i reeeeeeeeeeally wanted to go the the show this winter when Megadeth and Motorhead were out together, but was utterly broke and couldn't swing it. i gotta see Lemmy before he dies. similarly, i'm really excited because a friend is giving me a ticket to see the Beach Boys, and i'll get to applaud Brian Wilson while he's still living. my "i'll go next year" was Miles, who played every year at the Oakland Paramount...until he didn't.

Mine was Pink Floyd. The Division Bell tour came around when I was 14, and I really wanted to go, but I couldn't get any of my friends to go, and I thought it would be too lame to go with my mom (who totally would have gone). When Rick died, I was really sad because I knew I'd never see Floyd. I don't know if Gilmour is going to come back over here again on his solo stuff, but if he does, I'm going. I really have no desire to see Roger, because honestly although the man could write some awesome songs, he can't sing (never could), and his bass playing isn't anything to write home about. Which basically means I'd be going to see his guest musicians, and then I'd rather go see a good tribute band. If they actually were to play together again for more than a couple hours, I'd do backflips.

I can't hear his name without thinking of this sketch. God, I love Will Ferrell.

I'd recommend The Machine. They're actually pretty good as far as tribute bands go.

I used to hang out on a Direct Connect music trading site with a lot of people who are HEAVILY into PF, and they said The Machine are better than the Australian Pink Floyd Show, and APFS tour around the world.

Yeah, the first time I went to see The Machine it was on a lark, but I was really surprised at how they totally nailed it.
