Tyrant sounds pretty damn good. And only $70 shipped to the US? Hmmm.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

The Tyrant sounds like a Meathead with bigger caps for more bass. I really like that circuit, but it does need more bass.

The earth fuzz sounds A LOT like the soda meiser.

Yeah, very Devi, but in a cool way. Not quite as dark and booming as the old stock Soda Meiser. :thumb:

From the meathead schem I checked the caps looked like the same values, but I might have missed something. I CAN say that for whatever reason the tyrant does have hella bass, works pretty well with bass guitar too imo.

monkeydancer wrote:Good to their word my Tyrant arrived today! Had a look at the circuit, deeefinitely a Meathead clone. High quality build, so no worries there. I've had some time to mess around with it and put together this demo (actually the first 5 minutes I played with it at all! I'm not a pro demo person).

Thanks for long post, I'm pretty keen on getting one :thumb: and it's now nice to know of the build quality and all. Will listen to the clip soon!

Gut shots? Interested to see them.

Depends which version of the meat it is based on... There have been various cap changes of the years.

Can't do pics, but it's built using this layout: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... thead.html

With a 47nF cap at the input. Didn't check the resistor values or transistors, but the layout is the same and all the other caps are too.

Really? Mine has plenty of. Bit as always, tastes might differ though.

This one works pretty well for me, at least with my little practice amp. Loses a little bit of bass on the lowest notes, but I think it sounds really good anyway, hella grindy and thick.

Does it cut at least a bit or is it mainly wooly and huge?

On guitar it's mainly wooly and massive but on bass it was much more cutting and bright.

DarkAxel,
i would appreciate if you could give it to me instead of giving to others as i'm interested to have it.
