Need a delay/echo pedal

Can't go wrong with EHX deluxe memory man, as others have said. I like the Malekko dark delays as well. Maxon's analog delays are great if you can find them used, or if you have $400 lying around.

I'm pretty happy with it.

The problem with delay is that it is a serious investment. But there is no substitute for a good delay sound. :thumb:

Just as a point of clarification, did 1,2,3 end up going with the smmh?

I've seen the dmm, smm, and smmh all referred to in this thread and now I'm just confused.

When I wanted one I tried the DD-7, SSM+H and the Hardwire DL-8 side-by-side(by-side

Hardwire DL-8 won easily.

I'm really not that big of a fan of the SMMw/H.
I don't know why. Honestly, I like the DD-7 better, but once I save up 200 bucks I might sell the SMMH and buy an Empress Superdelay, or, if it's out, the Malekko 919.

I'm looking forward for the 919 very very much so. :omg:

I just really want to see how it will compare to the Superdelay.

Excactly. Very satisfied with the SMMH just need a cheap little delay to do stuff like this:

If you want to record and keep a bank of back tracks i would say do the RC20XL. If you want some freaky noise shit with reverse and half speed and all that go with the DL4. Be careful though DL4's are addictive I have two just because I love the loop and I love the delay, but you can't access them at the same time. So I solved my problem by just getting two. Not as bad as Dave Knudsen from Minus the Bear who has 4 on his pedal board which gives MTB that weird awesome sampling tone in their songs.

I would say that the Empress really is all that. It is an amazing pedal. The amount of options you have is simply staggering. It has everything you should expect in an expensive delay (tap tempo in different increments, presets, lp/hp filters, reverse), and then it adds on other cool stuff, like 3 different exp pedal modes, the ability to tap in your own rhythm, etc. The only reason why I didn't keep it was that I needed something with a digital display so I could program in a specific delay time in bpm for my electronic project.

I'm just using a DD-20 right now, but I want to try out the TC Nova Delay. The Eventide looks amazing, but that's a lot of coin for me to drop right now.

Super delay is def. worth the cash...on top of the massive features they packed in, the tape echo setting is one of the best available.
The looper borders on useless and increased control over the modulation would have been nice, but it's still one of the best all-in-one delay on the market.

i just looked at a Youtube demo & i must say that the Reverse Echo w/ the Octave Up does seem pretty killer. how the the Superdelay compare to the Timefactor though?

Woah! how does one do that even with 2 delays? I can't even tell the delays being engaged there... but maybe cos it's late and the computer volume is at 2 or the gf will be late for church tomor! :?:
