I had heard Serge Gainsbourg in passing but up to this point I had never sat down and focused on the music.

I've found it to be quite brilliant. You can certainly hear his huge influence on Air. Has some great guitar playing from legendary session guitarists Big Jim Sullivan and Vic Flick on it.

I have an album of his he did with Jane Birkin. It's pretty cool stuff.

Yep. Melody Nelson is incredible. I only wish there as an alternate mix that has the voice lower and the instruments louder.
