Strymon Flint Video

Post by Ghost Hip »

I can't find the old mystery thread... but Strymon posted these videos today AND HOLY HELL I WANT ONE. I like that you can change the order of the two effects... so good.

well, the tremolos are quite excellent, but i don't care much for the reverbs at all...with the exception of the "80s" reverb, which by definition is supposed to sound digital and artificial, the verbs really aren't convincing at all. the spring and plate verbs sound flat and dead to me. however, if they came out with a standalone tremolo, i'd seriously consider buy the fuck out of it.

Would have to agree, that and the fact that it's not a outboard verb tank simulation (or two or three, since I've played SS ones as well as the standard tube Fender/Gibson ones in my day) sort of kills me.

For the price, can damn near just get a trem made to your liking and be halfway to a real outboard tank (or a trem made to your liking and 2-3 actual 80s reverbs).

Sounds pretty good to me, still don't need/want one but I found it slightly amusing they played a Smiths song.

Meh. Harmonic trem sounds great; everything else didn't impress.

Definitely agree. I know it's not in line with the concept they were going for with this particular pedal, but I feel like if they expanded the functionality of the trem as its own pedal they could come up with something reaaaaally awesome sounding.

Ok, if somebody likes those tremolo sounds: fine. Not really my thing.
But the 60ies tube reverb sounds not like it does in the old units (i have one btw). There is an upper harmonic "swosh" missing.
Whatever, a lot people will buy this.

Problem I think is they're not emulating a tank, they're doing some generic Accutronics-style in the combo amp pan, and well, if I want that, I have several amps with the two spring pan in them.

People who want reverb enough to pay for it in a pedal want reverb beyond 'bad spring tank in the back of my solid state Fender.'

and they're not even doing it well. i've heard reverb-on-a-chip pedals that do better spring reverb.

Props to the tasteful dentist licks thrown in there.

sounds not exactly like the original - but it is quite near - and does it far better than the strymon :idk:
