I figured that those were the strings, They are really lively. I played the Neons some more. They are pretty cool strings, the coating feels different but not bad.

I have yet to get my CKS's on my Warwick,....but I'm expecting good things out of it.

Mecha Shiva is taking a break from gigs and getting some arranging done and being productive. When we get out of the Demo phase I intend to have a new nut carved (for .158's) and have the bass setup. Looking at July at the earliest. Just have to work with what I have currently for the moment.

In May I intend to have my Guitar setup for a crazy Detune gauge set (.70-.14 I believe gonna have a new nut carved for that as well) from CKS. That is so I can be prepared to start rehearsing with a metal/Pelican-ish with vocals band. But that is guitar talk.

I've been going through and settling up on all of my debts that have made their way to collections,...so I have to start budgeting an allowance for gear/personal expenditures ($200 a month). In June I want to get a Recurve Bow setup so I can start pursuing an archery hobby. It will be nice to get out of debt and start rebuilding my credit. Eventually the wife and I would like to buy a house. Probably going to take about 5 years before we are in a position to buy. I expect the housing market to recover by then so it will probably be bad timing for us,...but either way,....Owning > Renting.

It's cool hearing everyon'e take on which strings and why.

The Cobalts sound thicker to my ears. They were on the 25th when I sent it. Of choose I digg a certain sound. Everyone is different.

That echoes my experience as well. Went from nickel low riders to colbalts on my Big Al. The colbalts are similar in feel to the low riders, so it wasn't a big adjustment. I'll probably form a more accurate opinion of then once I put a set on my JO4.

Do you guys use speakons? My new fEARful cabs have speakon connections but my vintage Mesa power amp doesn't.....so I've been considering buying a speakon adapter. I know using speakon cables would be ideal.....but does adding the adapter to just one end really make a huge difference? :idk:

I think it does. Speakon cables make me feel safer for some reason. I dunno why. I'm probably crazy, but I think they sound better too.

My buddy is jazzed on speakons cause they are exclusively made from the appropriate gauge. There is no chance for you to buy a janky speaker cable,...or accidentally use an instrument cable.

Sad news, I think I am out of the pedal game for awhile, I have two fully functional awesome boards, outside of maybe having to audition a couple of fuzzes for a spot on the coveted orange board I have no other needs.

More importantly the real reason I have to cool it is because the fiancé and I are in the process of buying a house and I need to prioritize my spending a bit...the new place is going to be pretty kickass though, so it will be totally worth it.

nice! congrats!

eh. i've slowed down a lot too. i still check out interesting things, but i don't just buy EVERYthing new that drops that looks even a little neat. i dunno if i've gotten smarter or just luckier, but my last 5 purchases i think, i've REALLY liked. BEF Pro, Organizer Malekko Bit, Heavy Mecha.... stuff like that. kinda nice to not be buying stuff then listing 3 days later.

Whatevs. I'm having five kids. Stop making excuses. :)*

But I am slowing down, as well. Maybe even selling off a fEARful cab to make some more pedal money and give more house space for babes. Checking out the Brain Freeze cuz Behn's is cool like that. It's be that vs the BEF Pro.....but other than that....I might try out a B3K just to cross it off the list (again, got a new rig so maybe it'll put up a better fight) but that's not really "buying" because I would break even when the loser was sold off.

Not that I can see...but that thing doesn't always work for me in any case. I usually have to hit the quote button and access the track(s) from the HTML code in the edit window.

Sorry BRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUCCCCCCEE, I straight up copied this out of a PM to you.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

I have a Crown DriveCore 1000 power amp for sale on TB. A guy offered me a Squier Active Jazz V for it. I have the power amp up for $220, I think I have $170 or so into it. These 5 string active Squiers are supposed to be KILLER for the price. People claim they outplay regular MIA Fenders. The bass also comes with a gig bag. I mean, I need to sell some extra gear that I have. I have a BC RIch MockingBird, neck through bass that I could stand to get rid of. I could put the Squier on backup duty, plus I could mess around with some 5 string action, it has been a long time since I had a 5 string...I am pretty close to saying yes.
