Re: Infanem: There's No Future In Fuzz
That's 4/5 accounted for...who has #5?'
The NFIF is a great little box.
It can be a dark boost, a slightly fuzzy boost, or the ripping fuzzrite people expect it to be.
It's got more bass, which is a good thing on a fuzzrite circuit.
Since it's utilizing dual "blend" controls it seems to let a bit more of the guitar shine through, it doesn't completely take over your signal and play your guitar like fuzzrites frequently do.
It's also pretty neat because you can really isolate the different quirks of the fuzzrite. In order to get that sorta hint of octavey honk in the fuzzrite you really have to crank it...but with the NFIF you can sorta blend in as much or as little of that weirdness as you like (via the 3rd knob? I think...) regardless of where you place the other two knobs.
Side by side with my dam fuzzrong (also ge fuzzrite) it held up really well...there are nuanced differences, a slightly different attack and decay...
Toss in the additional sounds offered by the "3rd" stage on the NFIF and you've got a serious new contender in the realm of the fuzzrite.
Compared to my Jerms Si fuzzrite the NFIF instantly had more gain...the Jerms can be dialed back for some fuzzy od-ish toones, where the NFIF jump the gap from boost to fuzz.
The Jerms does a bit more of that "take over your guitar" thing I mentioned, which is neither a pos nor a neg...just preference for what you want out of a fuzzy.
I wish I still had the basic audio fuzzmondo to compare...that was another great spin on a fuzzrite-y sound with more bass and extra knobs
Do any of you guys have both?

Ok, this thing sounds awesome! Exactly the spaghetti sound i still wanted/searched for. Very tuneable to my needs and from trebly to doomy a lot is possible.
The work of Ken on this one is amazing: superb build!

The more time I spend with this little box, the more I like it. Very fun.

+1. I'd like to build one. I love how dark and spitty demos make it out to be.
