"quiet" guitars and massive drums - ??

I was trying to explain an idea to the drummer in my band - the riff is kinda clean and boring but I want some massive drums to go with it. Got nowhere. Anyone got any examples of songs that feature a quietish/clean guitar riff over some banging drums?

Smile, that stuff is so far out of my musical frame of reference! Listened a couple of times now and can't decide if I hate it, or if I dig it or what. Woah.
