I think they were a buzz band for me. I liked them a lot at first and saw them when they stopped at my school and really enjoyed the live show. Fuckin loud
I dunno though, I haven't listened to the album in a few months now and I feel like they've kind of lost their appeal on me. The whole band really is based around Oliver's effects which is cool in a sense but grows somewhat tiring after repeated listenings.
1) SInging with an affected english accent 2) Performing with delay that is mixed higher than the dry signal 3) releasing a recording of a piss poor drummer totally losing time all over the finale of your album 4) Insufferable egomania
For these crimes the sentence is to be a deletion of MP3s bought on the itunes store, and complete suspension of respect. How do you plead?

The Death By Audio part in the FUZZ documentary made me puke down my shirt, trousers (thru my pubes, cause I go commando) and down to my shoes. Couldn't stand Oliver but then again, some four years ago, when I was looking for something new to spice up my pedals and came across DBA and their "invention" THE FEEDBACK LOOP!. Further investigation in that HC review thingie revealed that they were 1) shite 2) expensive and MOST IMPORTANT 3) that this company called Effector 13 made something called the Truly Beautiful Disaster, which was, not only cheaper, but also NASTIEEER.
The rest, of course, is history.
As to A Place to Bury Strangers, I have admittedly only seen the footage shown in the Fuzz doc. Not very interesting but, nice lights though!

it was that & the practice space video on VBS was how i first heard about them. not impressed. still not impressed. there is nothing new or groundbreaking here. but. if i don't want to keep hearing about them, then i may have to unplug my computer for a bit. becuz there is nowhere to hide from this current incessant hype-machine--
good thing about hype & trends & INTERNET fads is that they never really last for long.

hmmm. that's true. i think my problem is I equate bad music w/ bad ideas. of course what would be considered "good music" is also relative. i think you raise a valid point though. i agree w/ it wholeheartedly.
