Tried this, sounds pretty cool.
What sorta tone does that give off?
Very much an open-tuning vibe. Most open tunings I've tried sound very pretty to me. But I have only tried 3-4 of them, so I'm by no means an expert.
I usually like using minor/dissonant sounds and I usually stray away from that with open tunings because of how easy it is to make them sound consonant. It's not impossible to get minor/dissonant sounds, but it's hard for me to do sometimes. I probably haven't spent enough time with any alternate tuning to give them a fair assessment, though. I'm still finding new things I like about standard tuning.

I should try something like this. I primarily use the low strings so having the high strings for a more drone-like purpose would be cool. Thanks
Yeah, I'm a fan of darker, heavier tones also. I'd go off and try to find new tunings if I had the will power to tune it back if I can't find a tuning i like.lol
Heavenly sounds, grating gates; driving cars through surreal fates.
you will need a skinny string and a short scale neck to keep the high G#..... Lately I have been using an F. Not perfectly symmetrical like all the other Dim5's but the minor 3rd is complimentary....
I have a pile of tunes written now in this tuning.... here is one:
But sometime what I'll do is this D A D F# B B - The "e" string tuned all the way down to B can get pretty loose sounding which can be really cool and kinda sitar-y. If the jangle of it is too much I'll replace the "e" sting with another "b" string or "e" string of higher gauge.
Note- on the high b it sounds really cool if you tune slightly flat. Awesome for drone or a cool double lead line thing.
I like tuning in 5ths. A-E-B-F#-C#-G# I use 13-70 strings on a Tele. It sounds absolutely beautiful clean, and crushing when driven...especially with a muff style fuzz.

That's gonna be never. You're never gonna find the perfect tuning. There're tunings that I like a whole bunch, but none of 'em're perfect.
Doesn't matter though. There're plenty of 'em.
I usually find a tuning that suits what I'm doing at the time and play in it for a while. Then I move on to a different tuning.
I've been playing in DADGAD for a while now. Before that I played in DADF#BD for a long time. I like CFCFAD a lot too.
