Dirty Projectors?

Post by dorfmeister »

I've really been getting into Bitte Orca and Rise Above. Fantastic stuff. Some great Afro-Pop influenced guitar. Mostly clean sounds, I don't think they are using an fuzz pedals.

Really complex interlocking harmonies and rhythms.

I'd describe it as a cross between solo David Byrne, the Roches and the Shaggs.

Anybody else into them? For my money not much out there that is driving contemporary rock further.

The Glad Fact is really good album they did a few years ago but it's nothing like their current stuff. I just saw them live last weekend and you would be surprised that they do kick out the fuzz live. David Byrne even came out and sang Knotty Pine off the Dark Was the Night album with them. They are really a good band but beware when you start digging through their older stuff that not all of it is great.

I just saw them the other night in Somerville MA and they put on an amazing show. The girls have the most incredible voices live...perfect harmonies + pleasing tones + hot bods  :omg: it really is mind blowing how well they pull it off. Longstreth is a great and unique guitar player, very cool to see live.

the opening band was Vieux Farka Toure, son of Ali Farka Toure, who's one of the greater known musicians from Mali Africa. now THAT was an opening act...completely floored me with the musicianship and overall great music.

If you get the chance, I would totally recommend seeing them live.

This band blows me away everytime. I can't eben fathom playing guitar like that. Don't forget the ENORMOUS Peter Gabriel Influence...
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

I will rep to death The Glad Fact, Slaves' Graves (And Ballads), and The Getty Address. Those are all wonderful records. I honestly don't care for Bitte Orca or Rise Above. The musicianship is great, but the songwriting just isn't there the way it was on the aforementioned.

i like angel deradoorian's solo stuff but i am not a fan of DP at all. GGD is more interesting & even they bore me. i'm kind of waiting for more interesting ideas to come out of NYC.
