Alternative Tunings
So I have been playing in half-step down for about 2 years and the only other tuning I've used is standard. I know there are a shit-ton of other tunings and I'm curious of what they sound like and how to tune to them using a Korg GA-1. So if any of you feel like giving me input, please do. I love half-step down but I'm looking to experiment. So alternative tunings thread, yeah?
Please and thank ya.

FACGCe & DADGAd are real fun and pretty.
I've been playing in C#/Db standard for a couple weeks and I love it.
That low growl. Mmm.
I want to try that FACGCe tuning in the range I have my guitar now.
I bet it will sound magical.

I'm going to try both those tomorrow. I am excited to try some new tunings finally.

Re: Alternative Tunings
My Roadhouse Strat has a broken E-string so it's in G-D-G-D-D. My Ibanez piece of shit guitar is in Nadja tuning (C-G-C-G-G-D). My Japanese strat is in Isis tuning (B-F#-B-E-G#-B). My other guitars are in standard.
I'm honestly not too hot on alternate tunings, though (alternate here meaning anything where an interval between one string and the next isn't a 4th or a 5th).

Even though I'm not much of a guitarist, I have a blast when tuned to Aen standard.

Re: Alternative Tunings
If, as you've said, you've only played in standard, I'd start out with Drop D and Double Drop D.
Not adventurous, I know, but it's a good place to start. You can branch out later to tunings such as : Open G, Open D, DADGAD, etc.
Get an inexpensive chromatic tuner. Makes tuning a lot easier. I've got a Korg CA-30 and it's good enough.
(BTW, I'm not sure that a half step down from standard is really considered a separate tuning from standard.)

Re: Alternative Tunings
I recently tuned to DADEAD... I tuned the G string to E instead of my intended A by mistake... made for a pleasant surprise.

I'm a fan of AADGBE. It sounds massive, the low E almost just sounds like a bass which is great

Aen standard? Is that what Aen from Dwarfcraft uses? How dark does that sound half-step down? lol
