Here is the cottage I'll be recording at, this winter.

Post by yallerhon »

In case anyone's interested, I thought I'd put up some pics of the place I'll be recording at, in about two months (the dead of winter here in Australia).

It's at a place called Emu Point, near Albany, on a very southern coastal point in Western Australia.

Here is where I will be staying and recording, at a friend's beach-front cottage/house.

And here is Albany.

The pics don't really capture it, but it rains a lot there. Endless miles and miles of empty, clean beaches that face the Southern ocean (towards Antarctica!)

Can't wait!

Will make a change from trying to record demos in endless urban sprawl suburbia..

View from the cottage, late afternoon. The beach is just behind the treeline (about 150 metres).

I'm going to try and capture some coastal sounds.. late night waves, some of the many oceangoing birds, that sort of thing. I might not use them, or I may edit the hell out of them with loops, delay, reverb goodness. :!!!: :!!!:

Haha unfortunately not man :) Doing it all myself using a DAW, Echo Audiofire interface, and a few Rode / Sennheiser / Shure mics.

Making the most of what I have!

when i was going to school in SF in the 80s i used to write my lyrics sitting in the front seat of my truck parked at Ocean Beach looking out on the sea.

You Perth jerks and your exotic recording getaways. Have you been by the Tame Impala recording compound?

Wow... neat place.

I was talking about where they did "Innerspeaker", though. I think they did that in just some beach house somewhere... Kevin Parker just set up his stuff and they rocked it.

This one looks like the one they did the newer Pond record in... I think KP produced that one.

I'll have to take a look at this Poon site later after work. Cool pics.
