FUCKING LOLLAPALOOZA
I TOLD MY FRIEND I WOULD ONLY GO IF JACK WHITE, AT THE DRIVE IN AND CHILDISH GAMBINO WERE THE SAME DAY. GUESS WHAT FUCKERS? NOW I HAVE TO SPEND 95 DOLLARS IN HOPES OF GETTING A BLOWJOB
i mean, i think this is the definition of first world problems, because i want to go because i loved jack white, he got me into playing guitar, at the drive in is fucking at the drive in and gambino's live show is pretty cool, and I like him as a rapper BUT its like a hundred dollars.
I don't know what the point of this thread is though, so is anyone else going? Wanna meet up? drop shrooms?

I didn't know lolla announced their lineup yet.
Just checked it out. Day three's the only day worth really going to, anyway.

Childish Gambino is quite good live. It's an impressive show no doubt, much better than his shows from a few years ago. Caught him at the House of Blues and it was awesome.
I saw ATDI's live Coachella stream and was also impressed, considering they're hitting most of the notes now.

I watched the reunion stuff too, and while I'm super stoked they're getting back together for shows, they've got nothing on what they were like in their prime.

And Gambino's a one-trick pop culture pony.

Well there's a few things: Omar's mother died a few weeks ago, so he's not really "there" live. The only reason they didn't cancel the dates was because of how hyped up it was and it was a reunion thing; Cedric is actually singing well here, arguably better than some of their mid-TMV days too. He's still jumping around too, just not as much. I'll take accuracy over the older stuff. The rest of the band is playing well too, especially Jim.

Well that's just like, your opinion man.
In my opinion, the newer material is much stronger than his older stuff (less nasally voice, songs about things other than his penis) and the live show is great fun. He actually plays with a live band and the bassist runs an interesting rig.
Donald Glover is most certainly not a one trick pony, though. Award winning writer, acting on Community (which is awesome
), and rapping (which is hit or miss with people)...kid has talent.- D.o.S.

Oh, I love the Glove... but his rapping is (as far as I know, I haven't checked out his newer stuff) a pop culture madlib.
And, yeah, I heard about Omar's mother. Awful, but I think it just kind of underscores exactly how dead that band is to all of the members involved... and that makes me le sad.

I'd recommend you give Camp a spin! There are some awesome tracks on it...definitely one of my favorite albums of 2011.
About ATDI... I guess I agree. Jim seems pretty amped to be playing with these guys again, though, at least to me. The smaller gigs they played in Texas seemed much more "classic-ATDI" in terms of the feel of the performance (small venue, big crowd really packed in close, etc.).
I'm just glad that they decided to do it. I think the fans needed some closure. If they decide to do some more ATDI music that would definitely be interesting considering how much Omar and Cedric have changed. Looking forward to a TMV tour!

Yeah Camp has some great songs on it, some of it is still pop culture but others are a lot more meaningful. Glover does really have some talent and is by far my favorite actor on Community.
