i think the range of the Menatone is good...i use the 50/50 to 70/30 pro-squarewave setting for amplifier-style tremolo. it doesn't do a perfect Fender-style sound, but it sounds fine run through a halfway decent amp. i'd characterize its sound as "neutral." i think this is a good thing...i used to be into the more tube-ish trems, but nowadays i prefer to let the sound of the amp supply the coloration. i get everything from synth chop to "Crush With Eyeliner" triangle wave to Creedence swamp throb with it. i don't LOVE it in the same way i love my Ghost Echo or my DiscumBOBulator, which ARE warm-sounding boxes i.e. they seem to emphasize even harmonics, but i think of it as an excellent and useful tool in the same sense as my Head Rush or Octave Multiplexer. it's particularly good for me because--as you can see in my sig--i have a long signal chain and thus unnecessary coloration is a bad thing for me.

Well, it's not small, but the Sonic Boom 3 in One pedal nails the Spacemen 3 treomo + also does many other opto/amp Fender(ish) tremolo effects:

There will be a stand alone version with just the repeater section released soon.

cheers,
