Five or six years ago Portland had a fucking amazing doom scene. Unfortunately pretty much everything in that town has a fairly short shelf life. Amazing while it was happening, though.
good deals are here.

The Call of the Wretched Sea was pretty good. I never listened to Divinity of Oceans though, I'll have to check that out.

Some more doomish/noisy/black metal bands-

Gnaw (ex-Khanate)
Ildjarn is really primitive black metal, but some of his songs seem extra bass heavy

Hah that's my old band.

Their current noise guy and I both play in this band which might fit the bill?

Small fucking world man! Mark just stopped through these parts a few months ago with Dead Boomers, and a few months before that Pete and the boys were over, both Whitehorse and Occult Blood

aww thanks! Ecru is pretty old, We've actually sort of finished the new record but it won't be done for a few more months.

wait have we talked about this on Doom Forever before? Haha. Yeah they're all my boys. Whitehorse is back over there in a month too. Were the Dead Boomers shows good? Grover (Mark) is the most frightening vocalist sometimes, it's awesome.

Yeah, I believe we talked on DFFD a few times man. And awesome! I look forward to their return.

Dead Boomers killed it. Super focused, it was so tense and spot on, and like you said, Mark was terrifying. We all had dinner and drinks after, really top notch dudes, all of them

haven't seen Impetuous Ritual. Played with Portal and Absu a while ago. I'd never actually heard Portal, like on purpose. When people started talking heaps about them a couple years ago I was like 'I'm gonna avoid this and just wait until I can see them live and take it all in'. Definitely did not disappoint. INSANE live.

(my girlfriend loves them, she got really drunk and heckled them about their costumes, it ruled).

still deciding about this...like the operatic vocals in spite of myself.

Those are sort of a quirk of that song, which I choose because it was the doomiest.

Here's one off their first album:
