Record Store Day 2012 is on the horizon!!! (21st of April)

Post by nuclearfamily »

Anyone else celebrating next Saturday? What are your plans for record store day? Any planned purchases? Am I the only one that is this excited? :!!!:

It's kind of a special time for me as there is only one record store in my town. I worked there for a while but couldn't find the time to continue but I still help him out once in a while so I will be helping out that day. Last year was madness. There were people there lined up across the block long before the store was open. One guy actually paid another guy for a record so he could come up to the till and pay for it. So... yeah Its great working as I will get first dibs on all the special releases. I kind of want the Flaming Lips record store day release with all the collaborations on it.

Another big part of it for me was the live music he always had there on record store day. I wasn't old enough to go to any bars on the first record store day so it was kind of neat. So the current band I am in is playing our first show there this year. It should be a good time.

Get in. Get out. I can't spend too much time in record stores. Always there for too long & spend too much money.

I'm pumped for this record.I dig every song they're released from it so far.
"I've Seen Footage" didn't get me right away, but once I treated it more like a fun jam than a crazy song, it got me.

Playing a matinee show and an evening show at a gigantic all-day/night benefit concert for my friends' record store that was destroyed in a fire. Also releasing a benefit compilation that I put together with all profits going towards the reopening.

I'm selling 150 hand-made and numbered compilations. 23 different bands that all played inside the record store. Samples available here: http://soundstationcomp.bandcamp.com. Tracks marked with * were recorded exclusively for the compilation.

Anyone who might be interested can pre-order/order it here: http://soundstationcomp.bigcartel.com

Shameless plug, I know. :hello:

I wish I had a record player. But then if I had a record player I would have to buy a stereo receiver. And then I would also want good speakers instead of just headphones. And then that's, like, the cost of a good amp or an awesome guitar.

I still occasionally end up buying vinyl, though, 'cause it will be like $2 more than the CD and come with a digital download and records are just way cooler to have sitting around than CDs.
