Re: Walrus Audio
I'll just help out by adding in what I know....
Technically Walrus is a new company, but before that at least one of them had a company called Little Axe Effects. They made a wonderful pedal called "The Gatekeeper" Fuzz. (that's gate keeper, NOT lightfoot labs goatkeeper)
Walrus will be coming out with a NEW gatekeeper, timeframe unknown.

Re: Walrus Audio
I think most ILFers are not a part of Walrus Audio's targeted market. Definitely more for the TGP crowd I would think and with that I'm guessing they're taking a prestige pricing strategy keeping the price higher to raise the perceived quality of the product.
The guys over there buy $800 Cornish pedals, $200 seems like a steal...

They also love the Dirty Boy pedals which have to be one of the biggest rape of a pedal lineup that I've personally tried. (I ain't paying $500+ for a pedal made with a goddamn label maker)
For that money, it would have to make coffee, wipe my ass, and pleasure me orally...... all at the same time.

I like how you cut the end of that sentiment right off. Fuck it though im not going to argue over a compressor anyway. See you queers in another thread.

Re: Walrus Audio
I'd agree they're overpriced especially considering they lack anything unique beyond the sexy finishes. They aren't insane, just too high for a fledgling company offering some basic effects in designer clothing. Build quality looks good but $199 compressor with pretty graphix, yeah, no thanks.
Honestly, I don't think Walrus Audio identified a target market just yet but they're casting a wide net. Those hip indie-kid demos, fixies all laying around the studio aren't going to appeal to the majority of the TGP crowd while the prices may turn off the ILF and HCFX bunch.
Forums make up a tiny percentage of pedal buyers so basically build 'em solid and make 'em pretty and they'll sell at those price points I'm sure.

Oh my bad. "...to some people". It seemed like you were one of those people, thus why would it matter if I cut it off? Queer.

Re: Walrus Audio
Not to throw any fuel on this ridiculous fire, but just took a look at the prices.... I don't think $169 for the Iron Horse is unreasonable at all. (Seems to be the most flexible in terms of features)
Why all the trash talk about price? Before I checked the price, I thought you guys were talking somewhere in the $300+ range.
Just curious?

My question is this: If you buy a Little Axe Gate Keeper, are you also required to purchase a Pigtronix Keymaster to go with it? Or would that be too dangerous?

Yeah, Brady smith worked at Keeley for a little over a year. The rest of the cats are 4site. I'd stay away from their gear. Not that he isn't a nice guy, but his boxes are probably as unoriginal as he is.
Oh yeah, the 4site camp is connected to DMB pedals as well.
It seems everyone is a boutiquer these days. Oversaturation and clone after clone.
My two cents.
