US supreme court takes another step backward.

Post by aen »

Ruling that cinvicts do not have a constitutional right to DNA testing after a conviction, even as new technologies provide more accurate evidence. essentially they passed the buck down to the states, and said the state government and the PROSECUTORS make that decision.

What the fuck. Does anyone remember due process? Or the millions of scumbags that get off on a technicality or police error that may have led to tainted evidence? With the attitude that it was better to let the guilty go free rather than jail the innocent?!?!?!??!

SO now its up to a prosecutor? A prosecutor who certainly doesn't want to be proven WRONG lest he be known as the asshole who put the wrong guy on death row, or worse, someone who is more interested in keeping niggers off the street than any true justice. And don't say that doesn't happen, you know it does. The numbers prove it.

The reason for the supreme courts ruling? MOney. The unwanted expense of convicts demanding the evidence be reconsidered in light of new and more accurate technology. For fuck's sake, I thought for a moment there that maybe freedom was worth more than money.

Fuck you US supreme court. FUCK YOU.

Considering that DNA evidence is most likely to be used in the cases with the harshest punishments (rape, murder, etc.), this is something that should definitely have been reconsidered.

My feeling is that the constitutional protection against harsh and cruel punishments should apply here. Getting sent up the river for 30 years (or worse) for a crime you didn't commit (especially when evidence may exist to overturn a guilty verdict) is beyond cruel.
:joy: things to do, things to re-do :omg:
