Pedal question - Size of enclosures?

Hey all,

Bit of an odd request, maybe?

I've noticed that pedal enclosure sizes usually have letters and numbers.. is there anywhere that lists specifcally what size each 'code' is?

E.g. 125B is * long by * wide by * high
1590N1, 1590A, and so on. There seem to be so many My Google is weak.

The reason I'm asking is because I actually want to take all my pedals and buy spare, blank 'foot plates' / 'base plates' for them (or just a whole spare enclosure for the plate), so I can put velcro on them and keep the originals (particularly my Dr Scientists) unblemished.

If it helps, the pedals I'd be looking to get 'blank' spare footplates for are:

Dr Scientist Tremolessence - 125B
Dr Scientist Frazz Dazzler
Dr Scientist Elements - 125B
Dr Scientist Reverberator
Dwarfcraft Shiva - 1590BB
EHX Big Muff / Tone Wicker (seems to be same size as Shiva)
Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine - 1590BB
Smallsoundbigsound Fuck Overdrive - 1590BB
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet
Mid-Fi Electronics Demo Tape Fuzz
Durham Electronics Crazy Horse
Maxon AD999
Line 6 DL4

I've been searching around the net trying to find what 'code' these enclosures are, so I can buy blank ones. Obviously I realise that for the Maxon and Line 6 I'll have to scrounge up a spare footplate for each.

*2nd edit* - A few people have actually suggested the much easier and cheaper idea of simply having aluminium cut & drilled to fit. Thanks guys!

I've just ordered a 125b for this very reason. pedal parts plus list the sizes of each enclosure.

Is there any easy way of finding out what 'code' or 'model' enclosure each pedal is, or should I do the roundabout way of finding the listed dimensions, then comparing them to the sizes of enclosures on PPP?

*edit* - By footplates, I mean the flat plate that is the 'foot' or 'base' of the pedal

and Sea Machine are all enclosed in 1590bb 's

Sucks but i dont think this is going to be possible to do with yer DL4, AD999, or Fulldrive because those are all custom enclosures specific to the companies themselves. What you could do also is call or email them requesting enclousure parts for those pedals, but good luck with that

Do note, however, that it is very likely that pedal builders use imported enclosures. These enclosures might be very similar in size, but could have minor differences that could cause the lids to not fit. Same for the screws.

This is going to be expensive. Why not grab yourself some thin aluminum stock, cut it to fit your pedal bottoms, drill some holes that line up with the original screw holes, and (hopefully) use the original enclosure screws to hold the plate and the lid on. Even if you had to source longer screws, it would probably still be cheaper than buying replacement enclosures.

That's a great idea Mike, I'll look into that too! I actually found someone that had done that for his Boss pedals, so I picked up one of them for my TU-3.

Great minds think alike! Already have a bunch of different size chain 'links', screws, and a heap of various rubber washers and o-rings / spacers.

Was interested in the base plates / aluminium plates as an alternative or combination, particularly as I may velcro the pedals while I'm still playing with the signal chain. I need something relatively short-term but still quickly adjustable as I gig quite frequently. The bike-chain method is the long-term plan. It looks so sexy.

Or you could always contact the pedal manufacturers to see if they've any spare/unsalable/blem'd backplates they'd sell you for cheap?

At the very least you could question 'em about the size of their enclosures.

you can get backplates for single MXR-sized enclosures from Small Bear...i bought one for my Distortion+ because i wanted to run it off the One Spot without drilling the original back plate for the adapter. IIRC they might have the BB-sized plates as well.
