That shit any good? Think I could score one for around $200 somewheres?

:idk: It's probably like 4 of the DL4 loopers in one box. Guitar Center has some used ones for $180.

If I had a Mac I'd take a look at the looper in Mainstage 2 ($29.99). I don't know if it's ready for live use, but worth a look.

If you are used to the DL4, hunt down a used M9...the looper is a beefed up version of the DL4 (and all that other stuff...great verbs/filters and decent mods...sosodirt)
You can probably find one for $250-300-ish

Don't get a JM4 for looping.
It's essentially a Spider Jam without the speaker.
It's mainly a practice tool with amp models and backing tracks.
My vote is for a Boomerang.
I'm borrowing an original one for a noise project. Even with the limitations that the boomerang 1has, it's a killer tool for looping.

It's mono, but easy to operate, takes very high level signals without puking, and has worked well for 6+ years now.

I'd consider it or the newer Solo (if you get the second footswitch for optimal control) withuot hesitation as a pure looping device.

Of course, I have piles of loop options in my signal chain from other units that I primarily use for delay or signal mangling, but realisticially,if I want to loop it's the Jamman.

Yeah, I think that as far as loopage, I don't need a lot of extra horseshit. The Jamman is probably one of the cheaper and bare-bones choices, hmm? Neat.

yeah i have the jamman solo with the footswitcher, and right now the ONLY complaint i have is that you can't store loops as they're playing.

but ideally i would have a boomerang and another looper.

What about some of the more basic shit like the BOSS DD-7, the Digitech Hardwire DL-8, or the TC Electronics Flashback/Alter Ego, or the Memory Man w/Hazarai?

i mean that when im playing a loop, and want to store it, and switch to another memory spot to start a new loop, and eventually switch back to the first one, i can't. you can only store the loops in a spot if the pedal is off. otherwise if you change memory slots, the loop is erased

SMMH is pretty sweet for looping but like the El Cap the function is more of an afterthought so the pedal isn't designed to be a super practical looper. The cool thing about looping with the SMMH is that you can still use all of it's other effects which sound pretty rad. Buuuut if you're gonna go for something where the looper is a secondary function, the El Cap is totally where it's at. I had an SMMH, got an El Cap and sold the SMMH immediately. The El Cap just sounds a lot better.

I actually use the looper on the El Cap more than anything except when I'm playing with others I only use it for delay.

Speaking from experience: Boomerang III is where its at, but if you need barebone stuff then I would look elsewhere. It can do barebone, and even though its smaller than the previous model, its still a lot of money and real estate for simple looping. The SMMH is pretty cool, but to do clean loops on it you have to have some weird settings. I used to have one and sold it because I mostly used it for looping, and decided I'd rather just get a looper. Kind of miss it though.

The new one is tiny compared to the old one, I don't see how its ugly (I guess its not a looker), and sorry you base you opinion of a pedal just on the city its built in. I think the Boomerang III is great because its 1. User friendly to start with, which I can't say about the 2880 the one time I tried it out, and 2. It has a ton of functions. Not only that, the builder is constantly working on ways to expand the functionality of the pedal. He's working on support for midi clocking or whatever its called, and also released an add on pedal that literally puts every function out for you. Yes, it makes it twice as wide, but if someone does heavy looping, it makes the Boomerang all the more useful.
