looking for a multiposition filterwah eqtron or something

Post by deutschmark »

hey fellow ILFers, i'm looking for a pedal that can do wah but not a wah, it should be something like seek wah/ooh wah with a few cutoff freq/equalization presets and one could switch 'em manually, so it's like changing a few sweet spots on a wah but without the sweep

is there anything like this on the market ?

So, you want a programmable band-pass filter?

I'm sure you could find something like that. Have you looked on the Effects Database for something that meets your requirements? That's where I'd start.

Have you also considered a simple (un-programmable) band-pass filter like the Basic Audio Peak Freq., Keeley Nova Wah or Wilson Parked Wah?

There are others as well. I think you have many options.

yeah! so multiposition filterwah eqtron is really a programmable bandpass filter :thumb:
took a look into effects database but damn there's so much various stuff, about 500 devices listed as "programmable filter" and i found none of them yet to be programmable in a way that i understand the word "programmable" :grumpy:

thx for the tip w/keeley nova wah, this is the closest to what i was thinking about but i'd like to have more "presets"

For what you want you may have to go with a rackmount synth kinda thing or possibly some type of DJ gear.

I'm loads more familiar with the stompbox floor pedal type stuff. So, I really can't be of too much help to you here.

Keep looking, you'll find what you want eventually. Then the next problem'll be actually acquiring it and hoping it really does what you want it to.

yeah i guess there are loads of filters in a rack/tabletop shell out there but i'm looking for a pedal, rather tiny one ;)
the moogerfooger w/step switch looks like what i'm searching for, however this thing is damn huge, it costs a fortune and i don't need banks with presets and all that yada-yada

thx, keep 'em comin'!

how many presets you'll want?
how do you want to select the presets? scroll one at a time (like the seek wah, but manually, each time you push the switch it goes to the next and when you hit bypass it goes to 1st one), or have multiple switches?

dunno really, dedicated switches would be awesome but i think i'd be fine with a single switch that steps through presets (= ooh wah but with a step switch instead of random switch)

Depending on your budget, you may be able to get someone to custom build you what you want in a pedal.

John Lyons might be willing to tackle such a project . There are also plenty of other builders on this site who may be willing to take a crack at it. (Check out the Shark Tank.) I don't think what you want is going to come cheap. So, it may not be worth pursuing this option. If you can find someone to build it, you'll have exactly what you want though.

(I totally forgot about the MIDI MuRF. Good call, sonidero. Cost and size aside, that might actually be the best tool for the job.)

deutschmark, the VariTone™ is nothing new. Gibson's been using that in guitars for probably almost like 50 years or something. I didn't know that was an option for you, otherwise I might've suggested it. I thought you wanted a pedal. You don't have to get an Epiphone Phant-O-Matic or even any other new guitar to have one. You can get a VariTone™ installed in wahtever guitar you're playing now. Just Google "VariTone guitar" and you'll find a bunch of info. Glad you found what you were looking for.

It's OK by me if you wanna use this to justify a new guitar purchase. :D
