Inexpensive amps that bring on the heavy

Post by dallasisacowboy »

I need an amp. Something thats incredibly loud but inexpensive (and hopefully, sounds good). I've been borrowing amps for awhile now and I need to change that, so any recommendations?
Thanks, by the way!

"Inexpensive" is relative, what's your price range?

200 or 300 bucks is probably the best I can do right now.

VTM, Butcher. Mark series is pretty loud and cheap, but don't expect lush tone or something like that. Just bulletproof loudness.

200-300 is not really mush, because for me heavy means more than 50W

but for a bit more(maybe you could find 1 for less then $300), you should check Blackheart amps,

really nice little amp,

I don't really know heavy means how mush watts for you,

little tips: class A amp sound louder than B or AB, maybe it will help

Peavey will probably be your best bet for availability but the SS Sunn stuff is great too and can be
found in your price range.

A used Jet City 50 watter (Which are much different beasts than the very low gain 20 watters).

Another to recommend Peavey. I've got a Rock Master 120 watt that rips. Got it for $300 I believe. Loud enough for pretty much anything, terrifying actually....

Peavy Ultra/Triumph 100 (or 60). /thread

Very loud, and just amazing quality (sound and build) for the money. I've got a Triumph PAG 60 that smokes.

Peavey is the most likely option because there's literally thousands of them out there. old Kustom amps can sometimes be had and will cause serious harm, especially the solid-state heads combined with a good cabinet. some Crate amps will bring the pain and can be even cheaper than Peaveys. and there are old Univox, Sunn, and other 70s-era amps that pop up from time to time which can be both affordable and cruel.
