Malekko Echo 300 Bright/Dark
I've found a place where they have a Malekko Echo 300 Dark and also a Bright in stock...
Should I... or should I wait to find a 600 at a good price (which is almost impossible)?
For that kind of guitar sound (Intro)... should I get Bright or Dark?

I also would like to have some kind of slapback... which is almost impossible to do with my Superdelay.

Re: Malekko Echo 300 Bright/Dark
according to lots of dudes who should know (Analogman and dude from Catalinbread, for instance), for a good slapback analog delay, you want a 300 ms delay. More than that, there's going to be too much degradation and latency. so for good slapback, the 600 is probably not the ticket. I'm LOVING the slapback sound of the Aqua Puss - it's not good for much else, but for slapback it's the shit. I can't see the clip right now, but I'd guess a preference for Bright or Dark will depend largely on the rest of your rig. Whatever you decide, send me a pm when you're done! I'd probably like to nab whichever one you don't pick up.
Maybe partying will help.

Re: Malekko Echo 300 Bright/Dark
somehow analogue haven tends to have these new in stock fairly regularly and they're priced like regular people price, not discontinued collectible pricing
but i got a couple from them last year, $185 new

You are right...
Why they go at a ridiculous price on eBay? Weird.

I LOVE Analogue Haven, Shawn is top notch to deal with, hooks me up always with the repeat customer savings! Humbucjer Music in Georgia had the E300s not long ago too. Price war a brewin'
As mentioned, E300 is ideal for slapback but too limited beyond that imo. Also Bright for the tone your after. The dark is REALLY dark and slapback is not a strong point of the E600. I always hear the AquaPuss excels here but haven't played original or reissue. Also clueless on cost.....

Just sold my Aqua Puss for $95. They are great for slapback, I just needed some more flexibility.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

WIRE!!!!!!
I don't have experience with either but I do have a 616 and I wouldn't try and get that clang sound out of it. I think voice wise it's maybe between the bright and dark? but with 650ms available it's better suited to textural delay that's almost reverb like and gets a good dubish kinda slap back but nothing that fast seems to sound good.

You think I would be better with a longer delay like a 650ms for that kind of sound?

Re: Malekko Echo 300 Bright/Dark
Doesn't sound like an analog delay...some kinda modulated digital.
My memory is a bit fuzzy but I'm pretty sure the SMMH can do that same exact sound.

Aqua Puss is my favorite current basic analog delay, but I went with the GarageTone to save some bucks. It sounds great, especially for the price. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. It's on Aen's board, too.
