I went to the thrift store and found Thriller for 11 cents, and then I saw Boy which was a stellar movie and coincidentally the boy in it was obsessed with Thriller. Then I'm driving home listen to the cassette, and thinking "Wow, I'm a jackass for the media misleading me.....MJ IS OUF DA HOOOK."

And now I'm on spring break just watching a poop ton of Charles Bronson movies.

Yeah, I'm new to this Michael Jackson game. I actually just listened to that on the internet, and really dig it. The bass goes hard on that album.

"I'll Be There" is one of the loveliest songs ever recorded. totally ripped off from the Everly Brothers' "Let It Be Me," yes, but still beautiful. especially when the harmonies blend together at the end and Michael does his eight-year-old Levi Stubbs "look over your SHOULDER, honey, ooooooooooooooooooh!" fucking timeless.

that's why people mourned so when he died. he was that good. even in that This Is It movie, he was so compelling that i tuned in for five minutes out of morbid curiosity and wound up watching the whole thing, and that was him in rehearsal mode giving it the Half Michael.

so i figured out what my board is doing that's creating the modular-synth effect...when i leave both channels of the Phantom Ring on with no input signal it generates a certain floor level of noise. amplifying this with the Bloom and Great Wall = a white noise generator! i can change the pitch and timbre of this sound by kicking the Sound Shank and/or Tone Reaper in/out. then the rest of the stuff does what it does: the tremolo oscillates, the DiscumBOBulator is a VCF that in this instance acts as a tone shaper and gives the sound a relative pitch, the OM octave-shifts, and the TC SCF modulates. they're the poor man's Moogerfoogers...call them the Kludgerflugzeugers. now i can make all kinds of sounds that have no relation whatsoever to what people think of as guitar using an array of entirely conventional devices.

Untoasted...hells yeah, strawberry all day. Eat the entire box and you're still hungry an hour later.
