Has anyone seen The Joy Formidable in concert before? I'll be seeing them in Cincy along with APTBS and Exitmusic ( ) next Fri.. I was almost shocked to learn that they use tons of Boss pedals on their boards (I guess I just had a preconceived notion that I would learn they used lots of boutique effects). I feel like throwing paper airplanes on stage with links to ILF builders scrawled on them. But hey I dig their sound... but I bet it'd be even better with some other pedals in the mix.
Really good, awesome live. I hadn't watched this vid until now. It's good to see more atmospheric guitar playing getting some more attention, y'know? I'm starting to think it'd be a really good time to start an indie band.

right now is a REALLY good time.
been doing stuff like this for the past few years with The Common Men... and the audiences have responded well to the noise/ambient elements we've put into our sound.

Every record I love from the 90s was recorded with Boss and maybe EHX pedals. Remember great music existed before expensive boutique pedals. :P
That said I'm seeing them tomorrow so I can't say much about them but I DOOO love me some APTBS. think this will be like the 8th or so time seeing them.

My old band got offered a support slot with them a few years ago. We had to cancel because our other guitar player was a nerd and couldn't book off work. I remember the promoter telling me three times on the phone that they were adament that nobody was alowed to use their amps.

The show was awesome! My left ear is still ringing from Fri. night... not a good thing. Time for better ear plugs! Here's some pics of the pedal boards. For some reason can't get the pictures to display correctly in this thread but here are the links to my flickr page.
