that's quite harsh. coldplay have loads of talent. no need to hate because it's not to your liking. i cringe when i hear people say they hate coldplay and bono and eric clapton and so on. dude--just don't listen. hate isn't cool.

Bono and Eric Clapton are pretty bad imo. But that's my opinion. Early U2 was right on, but they kinda went all Zeitgeist with their newer crowd-pleaser records. And Clapton's guitar tone is usually trash, with the exception of his later career stuff, but that's when his songwriting started to get a little wonky. But who cares what I think?

Coldplay's alright by me. Parachutes, though a huge Radiohead ripoff, was pretty cool. I was listening to A Rush of Blood to the Head when I was in 8th grade. As far as pop musicians go, I'd rather hate Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers, and Madonna than pick on some UK bros like Coldplay who actually can play their own instruments, tweak their own effects, and pick their own very talented producers.

I liked Parachutes and Rush of Blood :idk:

I love all of U2's albums up through Zooropa. Everything since then = poopy. The Edge is one of my fav guitarists. I do hate Bono, though.

I dig most of the stuff Clapton did up through Cream and Blind Faith (his playing on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"       ). His solo stuff ... meh.

Coldplay is seriously blegh.

The worst part is that people seem to think disliking coldplay is a calculated stance to make you seem cool/hip/whatever, when in reality... they just suck. End of story.

I saw them live when I was 14. The best thing about the gig was Interpol playing a support slot.

Coldplay sucked.

That Scientist song where he's all going backwards in the video... that song was pretty cool. I make fun of coldplay, but I don't hate them. They're probably chill dudes and there are plenty more offensive people in music to hate.

the thing i dislike about Coldplay is the thing i dislike about most modern rock: the content-to-sturm und drang ratio. they're the very exemplar of the phrase "labored mightily and delivered forth a mouse." if homes sang in Chinese i'd think they were 1/3 as cool as Sigur Ros, but unfortunately i can understand him when he culminates a huge musical buildup by saying "i will fix you" as if he's the Jesus H. Yorke of Teen Romance.

i love U2, i don't care what anyone says, but i reserve the right to disown particular things such as the more egregious bits of Rattle and Hum, "Miami," "King of Comedy," etc. the last thing of Clapton's i objectively liked was EC Was Here, and that was what, 1976? 78?
